The Aerospace, Defense and Marine (AD&M) business unit of TE is part of the Industrial Solutions segment and is a world leader in the design of components and electrical interconnection solutions that are used for applications in extreme and rigorous environments. We are currently seeking a SR QLTY & RELIABILITY ENGINEER to join the team located within our manufacturing facility, within Hauppauge NY. Primary Job Responsibilities

 

  • Support quality function and deliverables across multiple legacy projects within Hauppauge working with the engineering, manufacturing, procurement and quality teams ensuring the design and manufacturing processes are fully aligned to deliver a standardized process every time.
  • Evaluation of customer quality requirements.
  • Interface with customers, internal manufacturing sites and suppliers as required to address and resolve issues as they arise, implementing RCCA methodology.
  • Coordination with other core project functions by providing input for project analysis, feasibility studies, reviews, as well providing quality deliverables in line with APQP tools.
  • Lead and participate with Product and Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians in the resolution of issues using failure analysis (Ishikawa, 5 Why, 8D).
  • Develop and apply workmanship standards in the inspection of components and assemblies to assess acceptability.
  • Read and review engineering drawings interpreting geometric tolerancing and develop the corresponding quality inspection plans (QIP) for components and assemblies.
  • Ensure and review all critical characteristics are identified on drawings and flow through all quality control documentation.
  • Assess current gauging on critical build features using MSA and identify specific gaging requirements and work with relevant internal quality team & suppliers to have gages designed, built, and calibrated.
  • Read and interpret quality specifications and requirements.
  • Manipulate data using programs such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Analysis of quality and process data (ppm, scrap, Pareto, CPK, COPQ etc.)
  • Capability to facilitate and lead Cross Functional Teams in design and process FMEA’s.
  • Work with internal / External suppliers to flow down APQP requirements, audit and review data received, with final sign off.
  • Continual updating of FMEA’s and preparation of Control plans and Quality Inspection plans in case of quality issues, tool, and processes transfers.
  • Evaluation of quality related deviations during the First Article Inspection (FAI) process, including supplier deviation, escalation, definition, implementation, and execution of corrective actions.
  • Support development and implementation with general operational and quality related standards, procedures inside the TE organization and training of these requirements.
  • Support roll-out and execution of standard tools: Identification & Control of KC’s, tolerance analysis, FMEA, CONTROL PLANS, MSA, Capability studies, QIP, FAI, PPAP, work instructions development & Lessons Learned Data.
  • Use mistake proofing methodologies through the manufacturing process to eliminate human errors that could occur in manufacturing process steps.
  • Use data driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and report out on quality metrics to local site and staff.
  • Learn and lead the integration of the AS9145 APQP tools & methodology into the recertification of products, change management & ADM NPI process.


 

What your background should look like:

 

Qualification:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or Manufacturing.
  • At least 8+ years’ experience in Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Design Engineering or New Product Development Engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DFM/A, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, Control Plan, QIP, MSA, Cap Studies, FAI, PPAP’S.
  • Experience in building general operational and quality work instructions and capability to train other staff members.
  • Expert in problem solving tools such as 8D, PPSR, 5 why, Kepner Trego, Pareto Principles and data analysis, Six Sigma Black Belt or Equivalent is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize issues, assess situations and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Goal-oriented and self -reliant working manner.
  • LDFSS Green / Black Belt Certification.

 

Competencies:

 

  • Demonstrated expertise in quality concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem resolution using six sigma and  quality engineering tools and methods.
  • Ability to plan, establish, test and inspection procedures, conduct process capability studies, prepare quality control data, and develop planned experiments.
  • Strong  communication skills.
  • Discipline to prioritize own workload, working with the team, manager and project manager.
  • Experience of tracking and reporting out on wins, progress, issues, barriers and next on actions according to plan.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and  software packages (i.e., Minitab)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100, AS9145

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $103,576,- 155,364(subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
