Job Overview

As a member of the Technical Production Team, this position performs set-up, runs, maintains and repairs various types of high precision automated and semi-automated assembly equipment and related tooling & fixtures. This position requires a strong technical and working knowledge of all related equipment and machinery that falls under area(s) of responsibility, as well as the ability to recognize unworkable equipment, fixtures and/or operation techniques and take appropriate corrective actions. This position reports to the Production Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Operations

• Coordinate with the Production Supervisor and Value Stream Manager to establish production goals and requirements.
• Set up and operate automated and semi-automated assembly equipment to support close-tolerance production.
• Perform precision machining and basic tool-making activities to support production needs.
• Transport, position, and install tooling, equipment, stations, and production supplies as required.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair assembly equipment, stations, fixtures, and tooling.
• Keep production equipment and tools in safe, reliable, and proper working condition.
• Schedule and document routine maintenance and repairs for assigned machinery and equipment.
• Provide hands-on technical assistance to minimize downtime and sustain production output.

Quality, Safety & Process Control

• Follow all safety requirements and consistently apply a Safety First mindset.
• Perform dimensional inspections of subassemblies and piece parts to verify compliance with quality standards.
• Partner with Quality and Engineering to resolve processing issues, support corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
• Participate in MRB activities and support production of high-quality assemblies.

Engineering Support & Continuous Improvement

• Recommend equipment, tooling, and process improvements that enhance efficiency and product quality.
• Support new product development and design-for-manufacturability through sample tooling, prototypes, and production-readiness reviews.
• Work with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and other functions on technical issues and continuous improvement initiatives.

Training, Team Support & Special Assignments

• Train assemblers, leads, and machine operators on processes, procedures, equipment use, and safety requirements.
• Assist Manufacturing Technicians, Leadpersons, Assemblers, and other production team members as needed.
• Support facilities maintenance activities, special projects, and other related assignments as required

What your background should look like

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to successfully perform set-up of semi-automated assembly equipment to meet close tolerance subassemblies
• Min 2 yrs. related experience
• Strong communication/interpersonal skills
• Experience and ability to learn & understand blueprints, manuals & procedures
• Experience and ability to transport, position and install tooling, assembly stations and/or tables, and other related production equipment and supplies in excess of 50 lbs.
• Experience with mechanical inspection/geometric tolerancing
• Ability to use hand trucks, pallet jacks or carts
• Ability to adjust schedule and/or work overtime
• Experience with precision machining and toolmaking a plus
• Experience with electronics and equipment troubleshooting and repair a plus
• Technical Certification(s) a plus
• Familiarity with SPC a plus
• Familiarity with PLC Programming a plus
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
• Export Control Requirement
