Manufacturing Engineer II - Electrical

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Aerospace & Defense Relay manufacturing business unit is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the team in Hauppauge, NY.  Our Manufacturing Engineering Teams significantly impact new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

 

Manufacturing Engineer's Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate customer specification into electronic manufacturing specification, update and track corresponding compliance matrix.
  • Manage feasibility study and prototypes assembly when needed.
  • Design new electronic board and create all quality documents (worst case, thermal calculations, ICT test specification, DFMEA, integration…).
  • Work out and evaluate functional safety concept and specify requirements for process steps like EOL teaching/calibration.
  • Drive peer reviews during the development of the electronic board, ensure meeting guidelines and contribute to their update or creation when required.
  • Give instruction to the layout team and validate PCB layout.
  • Keep track of PCB manufacturing (sub-contractors, supplier) and conduct reviews when needed
  • Manage and execute electronic validations (functional, electrical, EMC, thermal,…)
  • Conduct analysis of faulty parts to find the failure’s root cause and take corrective actions,
  • Report progress on meeting customer requirements, performance, cost and deliverable dates on assigned projects. 
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risk associated to electronic boards on assignment projects
  • Perform benchmark analysis of PLC & IC available in the market and conduct PLC & IC characterization
  • Contributes to developing the PLC Specification based on equipment requirements 

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, or Electrical majored in Automation or Electrical Engineering, familiar with electrical control theory and design.
  • Four or more years of development of electronic board for sensor products thru the full lifecycle developments (initial research & development though series launch).
  • Experience in all aspects of electronic design, development and deployment of electro-mechanical products. Electronic Specification, Design, Functional Verification, Qualification & Release
  • Experience with PLC programming & electronic supplier interactions (component vendors, PCB manufacturer) for electronic development
  • Proficient in using electronic design development tools, fixtures, and simulation tools 
  • High team spirit to also share your knowledge to develop expertise of other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with management, stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing) and subject matter experts.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
