Job Overview

TE Connectivity is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift) for our manufacturing plant in Hauppauge, NY.  The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of automated and manual assembly machines.  This position requires the ability to fabricate machine tooling and a strong mechanical & electrical background.  The Maintenance Technician will work 2nd shift hours Monday – Friday 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM. Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as required. (first 6 months training would be 1st shift 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM). 


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and rebuilds.  
  • Perform periodic inspections of operator maintenance checklists.  Ensure production personnel are performing and documenting scheduled operator maintenance activities.
  • Complete maintenance work requests and implement corrective actions to address machine downtime.
  • Fabricate/machine tooling and components. 
  • Support engineering and continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Assist with machine guarding improvements, LOTO audits, and safety efforts for select assembly machines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What your background should look like:

  • High School diploma or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field
  • 5 years’ experience maintaining production equipment and tooling fabrication preferred. 
  • Experience with electrical and electronic principles, National Electrical Code (NEC), and industrial electronics.
  • Experience with PLCs, automation and controls highly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)  skills
  • Strong communication and organization skills. 


Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
•    Must have ability to reach arms above head, kneel, squat, climb steps/ladders, frequently lift a maximum of 50 lbs. of equipment
•    Ability to perform tasks wearing a mask, face shield, and composite toed boots, FOD environment. 
•    Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
•    Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work including walking 6 to 12 miles per day
•    Ability to perform tasks wearing a mask, face shield, and composite toed boots
•    Work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
•    Regularly required to type on a computer or stand-up desk and for 1-2 hours per day
