Job Requirements

Manufacturing Process & Equipment Engineering

• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, processes, and production techniques.
• Investigate manufacturing issues that affect daily workflow, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Recommend improvements or redesigns to automated and semi-automated machinery, equipment, tooling, and processes to improve efficiency and product quality.
• Assess equipment condition and maintenance costs, then initiate actions that improve reliability and reduce operating costs.
• Plan and coordinate equipment trials, evaluate potential sources of supply, and recommend equipment needed for capacity or future expansion.
• Create clear work instructions and provide technical training to operators on equipment, processes, and standard work.

Product, Tooling & Design Support

• Support new product development and design-for-manufacturability activities through sample tooling, prototypes, and production-readiness reviews.
• Design, develop, qualify, and document tooling and manufacturing processes in applicable TE systems.
• Perform basic product and equipment design modifications, create detailed and assembly drawings, and support engineering change processes for existing products.
• Create 3D models from 2D drawings and complete appropriate mechanical design calculations.
• Build and test prototypes and standard products, analyze results, and prepare technical reports.
• Organize and categorize existing parts and maintain accurate engineering documentation and prints.

Electronics, Controls & Validation

• Coordinate feasibility studies and prototype assemblies, and required quality documentation such as worst-case and thermal analyses, test specifications, and integration documentation.
• Plan and execute functional, analyze failed parts, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop functional-safety concepts and define manufacturing requirements for process steps such as end-of-line teaching and calibration.

Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with Engineering and Quality to resolve production-processing issues and prevent recurrence.
• Initiate and implement continuous-improvement actions that improve quality, cost, cycle time, and process capability.
• Ensure tooling and processes meet applicable TE standards, customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety expectations.
• Review plant safety committee recommendations and initiate appropriate actions.
• Support Supply Chain in evaluating supplier compliance and manufacturing capability.

Project & Cross-Functional Leadership

• Lead technical peer reviews and ensure designs and processes comply with established guidelines; contribute to guideline updates when needed.
• Communicate project status, risks, performance, cost, customer requirements, and deliverable dates to relevant stakeholders.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical and execution risks on assigned projects.
• Coordinate information across Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and subject-matter experts.
• Support special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

What your background should look like

Education & Experience

·    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Design Engineering, Automation, or a related technical discipline.

·    Minimum of two years of related manufacturing engineering experience.

·    Green Belt preferred

Technical Skills

·    Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD tools, including, SolidWorks, and Creo.

·    Experience with electronic design-development tools, test fixtures, and simulation tools.

·    Knowledge of CNC programming and troubleshooting is preferred.

·    Experience working with mechanical component suppliers, and other technical vendors.

·    Working knowledge of SAP or a comparable ERP system and Microsoft Office applications.

·    Ability to perform mechanical design calculations, interpret engineering requirements, and prepare clear technical documentation.
