Server Administrator - DFARS/ITAR Environment

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Server and Storage Services Team manages the server and storage environments for TE Connectivity globally.  This includes all Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems.  These servers are used for a variety of uses including: Applications, Databases and File & Print.  A subset of the File & Print role is focused on TE’s DFARS users.  Due to the increasing importance of this subset of employees, we are expanding the team to include a focus on this environment.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Understand TE business goals, and the importance of protecting the integrity of the DFARS environment. 
  • Take the needed steps to ensure that DFARS data is only accessible to authorized employees.
  • Assist with establishing and supporting the DFARS environment.  This includes problem definition and resolution, technical design, testing, implementation, and support.
  • Provide support in one or more of the following operating system environments: Windows, Solaris.
  • Provide installation, upgrade, patching, configuration and support (hardware and software) for the various components including but not limited to:  Windows, Solaris, Peer Sync, CommVault.
  • Manage user security and groups for permissions.
  • Create proper documentation to assist with the management of the environment and conduct cross training with others as requested to facilitate 24x7 coverage for the environment.
  • Provide monthly status report.
  • Provide rotational after hours on-call support for the environment.
  • Support for occasional after hours or weekend project implementations.
  • Provide Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery support for the environment.
  • Day-to-day interaction with Storage, Windows, Linux/UNIX Administration, and Security and Risk Management.
  • Day-to-day Operational activities required to keep the environment secure and running smoothly.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Educational Required/Desired: 

Bachelors in Computer Science or related field of study and or related experience.

Strong MS Windows administration skills

Linux/Unix administration experience

Backup and recovery, and disaster recovery knowledge

Effective oral and written communication skills.
