Senior Manager - Strategy and Business Development

In this critical role, the Senior Manager  Strategy and Business Development  will support the Business Unit in developing strategies that drive above-market organic and inorganic growth, working closely with leadership to ensure both cross-functional involvement and real-time input as the external environment (e.g., technology, customer needs, regulations, competitors, etc.) evolves.  Success in the role requires strong business acumen and strategic mindset, exceptional communication and presentation skills, ability to work seamlessly with leaders at multiple levels in the organization, and the skills and tenacity to achieve results without formal authority.


Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

•    Manage projects to help identify new growth platforms, growth opportunities within business units, and across businesses - through the identification of attractive market spaces, determining what it takes to win, assessing competitive position and business models, and then helping the organizing to align on the strategic direction and execution plan
•    Ensure that the business strategies he/she develops clearly articulate the business choices, are well-defined, lay out talent and resource requirements
•    Help support the strategic planning process and deepen strategic capabilities in the organization.
•    Support research and analysis for identifying and assessing inorganic opportunities.
•    Lead joint BU and Corporate teams in solving complex business problems using a hands-on hypothesis-driven approach:

  1. Provide project management and thought leadership to project teams
  2. Guide and coach project team members in using a hypothesis-driven approach
  3. Lead from the front by taking on complex workstreams and providing hands-on support
  4. Develop project deliverables and executive presentation documents
  5. Lead primary and secondary research
  6. Frame discussion of findings and recommendations
  7. Become a trusted advisor to BU and Segment leadership

•    Drive change - designing and implementing projects to execute on strategic objectives

What your background should look like:

•    Bachelor's degree in Business, Science or Engineering from a leading institution is required. MBA from a top graduate program highly preferred
•    6+ years of total work experience with at least 2 years in strategy consulting, investment banking, or strategy / business development role with a Fortune 500 technology or diversified industrial company


•    Experience working in strategic projects and delivering results in cross-functional teams with limited guidance
•    Strong analytical, problem solving skills, Work Structure and Management, and Communications

Ability to structure and solve complex problems using a hypothesis-driven approach
Ability to structure work, manage strategy projects, and provide thought leadership to the team members
Proficient in creating value through the application of advanced data analytics and tools
Advanced knowledge of analytical tools (e.g., excel, tableau, alteryx)
Strong oral and written communication skills - ability to synthesize and effectively communicate key messages
Excellent active listening skills
•    Individual should be a strategy practitioner well versed in the theory and tools of strategy formulation as well as the practical implementation of strategy within a complex organization
•    Operational track record of dealing with strategic business issues including microeconomics, industry structure, operations strategy, and finance
•    Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle - with experience applying these skills in managing teams and leading projects
•    Strong business acumen and strategic mindset. Exceptional communication and presentation skills
•    The skills and tenacity to achieve results and influence leaders without formal authority. Experience in providing leadership and developing functional skills to mid-to-senior level leaders.
•    Being hands-on, staying connected to the ongoing strategy deployment and helping manage implementation when necessary
•    Willingness to travel (up to 20%) to work with TE colleagues, also meet customers, distribution channel partners and potential M&A targets, etc
•    Must have fluency in English. Foreign language skills a plus (German, French or Mandarin a strong plus)
•    International experience and expatriate experience is a plus
