Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Data and Devices (D&D) Business Unit is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer.  This engineer is expected to lead the end-to-end technical work related to new product development of both high speed connectors and cable assemblies, maintaining aggressive schedules throughout all phases of product development, conducting detailed design reviews of both product and tooling, defining process flows, and utilizing failure analysis and six sigma tools to ensure quick and successful process launch qualification.

The role requires the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment, leading a regular cadence of communication with global team members, maintaining an innovative mind, and having the ability to travel internationally. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications


  • Responsible for leading the technical development and launch activities of new high-speed connectors, cables and cable assemblies.
  • Work with product engineering and lead the technical manufacturing development engineering team members to develop new product designs and corresponding manufacturing processes that are capable to produce product at the right TAKT, with the right level of quality, and at a competitive cost.
  • Prepare and conduct Design For Manufacturability reviews for both product and tooling, prepare end-to-end process FMEAs, identify critical-to-process features and ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of reliably meeting these requirements, understand influence of critical process parameters, and utilize failure analysis and six sigma tools to ensure new processes are launched successfully.
  • Responsible for ensuring that manufacturing sites have the proper equipment for manufacturing, testing and quality control to ensure that product is delivered in accordance with all requirements.
  • Engage directly with global manufacturing teams, serving as the technical liaison for the project
  • Provide technical solutions to manufacturing problems of both new and existing processes.
  • As needed, support sustaining operational improvement activities
  • Disciplined use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Team Leadership.  Responsible to lead and align technical project team members on a common approach to the process and tooling development with the ability to identify areas needing escalation to maintain project schedule. 
  • Work as a team player and have the ability to work independently with limited oversight
  • Ability to recognize when escalations are required for matters of technical significance.
  • Lead and train production employees within the manufacturing environment on new product launches.
  • Understand and respect for the cultural differences.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing and process / fixture design experience
  • Proficient in machine, tool, and fixture design using 3D CAD (Pro-E preferred).
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, & Outlook
  • Project and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Must be an organized, self-starter that can work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work as a team member with remote sites and outside vendors.
  • Focus on results.
  • Anticipated travel: 10% global travel
