Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

The Role

Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing Engineering, the Global Assembly Center of Excellence (COE) Leader will enable the profitable growth of TE’s businesses through accelerating adoption of innovative assembly technology.  This global leader will work with the businesses to define the total saving potential of new assembly technologies through “opportunity to TE best” and support businesses as they work to close the gap.  The Global Assembly COE Leader will work across the business units to identify and prioritize needs for new assembly technology and collaborate with automation teams, both centralized (AMT) and within the BUs, to develop solutions. Strong technical, organizational and communication skills as well as business acumen are key capabilities needed for the role.  This is a unique opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader to enable the success of TE’s operations worldwide and represents a great opportunity for development as the COE leader will engage directly with senior operations leadership on a regular basis.  The successful global COE leader will be well positioned to progress into higher level Operations and Manufacturing Engineering leadership roles.

What your background should look like:

•    Bachelor’s in Engineering with 10 or more years of experience required
•    Master’s degree or Professional Engineer Certification is preferred
•    A demonstrated track record of delivering step function improvement through technology
•    Strong sense of urgency and accountability; energetic, proactive
•    Leading by example
•    Ability to bring together diverse BU requirements and work across organizational boundaries to deliver innovative solutions with broad applications
•    Working knowledge of engineering economics, statistics, basic industrial engineering and operational research and experience in application in manufacturing
•    Excellent business acumen in an innovative environment with experience in analyzing commercial value of technical project capabilities
•    Ability to communicate vision and inspire people at every level to deliver and execute the strategy of the Assembly CoE
•    Ability to explain complex topics concisely
•    Experienced in matrix management with a track record of being able to manage by influence and coordinate cross business unit activities
•    Practical knowledge of assembly automation
•    Willingness to travel as necessary to support BU needs globally
•    Strong detail oriented and goal focused project management competencies are essential
•    Proficient English language capability is required
•    This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration (EAR)
