Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

What your background should look like:


  • Responsible for the Design and Development of tools and mold processes to support the development of new products
  • Responsible for supporting product development in manufacturing optimization designs; performs tooling samples, product samples and prototypes.
  • Determines the most suitable manufacturing concepts related to the planned quantities of manufacture, quality requirements and place of manufacture.
  • Responsible for collaborating with world experts (CoE molding) to continuously update and improve standards operational with respect to plastic injection molding.
  • Responsible for incorporating the latest technologies and trends in the design of processes to maximize the performance and efficiency.
  • Responsible for providing budgets for new tools and mold processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team of molds and processes are designed to be able to produce good quality products efficiently and effectively at the lowest possible cost
  • Responsible for the coordination and monitoring of engineering changes to injection molds.
  • Responsible for registering critical components of plastic injection molds in the tool crib area
  • Responsible for coordinating changes and red lines of the plans, and informing the designer to execute these changes
  • Responsible for providing training to the mold workshop area, in failure analysis, procedures and systems
  • Responsible for reviewing with the launch team the new projects that come to the plant as well as the documentation, and monitoring of the launch process in the plant
  • Responsible for working with the engineering team on FMEAs, projects, launches, for optimization and improvement in the process in the molding area.
  • Responsible for providing the information and documentation for the activation of plastic injection molds for the systems like SAP, Hydra, etc. For their production and maintenance of these.
  • Responsible for the support for the administration of resources for the mold workshop area
  • Responsible for attending meetings of molds under construction in the launch process
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of PFMEAS in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer or related.
  • 4-8 years in similar position at least
  • Design software management (CAD) Creo (Pro-E), SolidsWorks, Space Claim, preferably.
  • Management of Machining Software (CAM) Creo, Mastercam preferably
  • Management of simulation software (CAE) of plastic filling. Moldflow, Autodesk, mold flow advance preferably
  • Basic knowledge in plastic injection molding processes
  • Good knowledge in tool making, tool steel from application / selection, heat treatment, and plating / coating.
  • Strong understanding of polymer theology, in particular that of grade resins engineering.
  • Scientific injection molding knowledge and / or Master molding Certification preferably
  • Knowledge of the principles of Six Sigma and LEAN (TEOA)
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerances
  • Ability for good project management, ability to work with various projects at the same time
  • Understand the practices, terminology, and tolerances associated with manufacturing, machining, grinding, wire EDM, etc.
  • Knowledge in SAP
