Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

  • This position will provide strategic and tactical support to the center led global strategic sourcing manager for cables, cable assemblies, and connectors.
  • This position will support a global spend of cca $300M, with direct responsibility for the North and South America spend of cca $100M
  • The position will report in to corporate purchasing specifically the Global Strategic Sourcing Manager for Cable, Cable Assembly, and Interconnect.
  • The qualified individual will support the implementation of the global commodity strategy and drive the commodity in their region to meet the year over year key performance indicators, including productivity, supplier delivery, supplier quality, supplier consolidation, VMI, localization, multi-source, days to pay and supplier material compliance.
  • Driving leading indicators such as savings pipeline, low cost localization, supplier optimization, and lead time reduction.

•    Support the overall strategy for the commodity, working in partnership with the different BU’s in their region on a consolidated global solution.

What your background should look like:


•    Direct experience working at large/global electronic company & procurement experience (3 years minimum).
•    Completed University degree, preferably Electrical Engineering, Business Administration.
•    Strong working knowledge of MS-Office, and SAP as an advantage.
•    Prefer direct cable/electronic components experience of 5 years or more.
•    English language skills in speech and writing.
•    Strong analytical skills.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with suppliers.
•    Motivated employee who is not afraid to challenge company "norms" and push for change.
•    Action oriented, with high levels of accountability.

Primary Responsibilities, Tasks & Deliverables
 
•    Negotiations with suppliers and internal customers on the strategy and best total cost of ownership.
•    RFQ and benchmark activity.
•    Drive KPI improvement, including productivity, Delivery performance, Quality performance, Supplier consolidation, VMI, localization, multi-source and days to pay
•    Support Supplier Material Compliance Management for cable, cable assembly and connectors.
•    Support the development of a global strategic supplier list that is technically and competitively advanced that it provides an advantage for TE.
•    Lead in supplier negotiations and selection.
•    Functional expert on commodity related issues such as part qualification, quality, delivery, cost, and development.
•    Drive new supplier development with a focus on best total cost of ownership.
•    Ensure lowest upfront cost by aiding in supplier and technical selection.
•    Work closely with Commodity Managers in the Business Units to support supplier negotiation strategies and ensure the sharing of best-practices.
•    Work closely with BU Engineering teams over supplier selection and cost reduction through VA/VE and OMP activities.
•    Provide monthly KPI reports and gap closure plans to key stakeholders and senior management.
•    Drive innovation and building supplier strategic relationships.
•    Hold supplier QBRs (Quarterly Business Review).
•    Maintain accurate system data.
•    Identify supplier risks, and actively manage, ensuring necessary actions are taken to mitigate the risks.
•    Help create and maintain the corporate strategy.
•    Develop & support supplier workshops.
