Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

What your background should look like:

  Responsibilities and authority
    Leads process analysis, new product/process validation, design reviews and Safe Launch activities. 
    Lead execution of Control Plans, Process Capability and GR&R studies as part of PPAP submissions. 
    Active participation with links communication with the client and for approval of PPAP´s.
    Lead and coordinate action plans for customer specific demands/complaints.
    Ensure corrective actions for Customer complaints are in place and perform validations to verify effectiveness to avoid recurrences. 
    Comply with quality requirements on Customer Portals (as applicable).
    Lead multidisciplinary teams for scrap reduction activities and improvement projects. 
    Controls manufacturing process to maximize quality improvement, improved efficiency and cost reduction. 
    Troubleshoots assembly and/or machining equipment as required to meet quality and production requirements. 
    Creates and maintains Control Plan, PFMEA, Operator Work Instructions, Equipment Check Sheet, etc.
    Lead multidisciplinary teams in APQP, FMEA, DOE, 8D y FTQ execution. 
    Improves equipment layout, process, and material flow to optimize production line efficiency.
    Practices 5S and Plan/Do/Check/Action cycles. 
    Supports IATF16949 and ISO 14000 audits. Participate in Internal and external audits. 
    Follow-up of corrective actions from internal, external and official IATF audits. 
    Carries out actions to reduce environmental impact, as well as activities for compliance with the ISO14001 standard.
    Authority to stop a process in which there is the possibility of harming the environment or/and that is outside environmental legal compliance.

Requirements
    Engineering Degree on Industrial, Mechanical, Automotive, Electronics or similar.
    +5 years of experience in quality engineering area at Automotive industry. 
    Experience as Quality Engineer in IATF 16949 automotive environment.
    +2 years of experience using customer portals (OEM´s and Tier 1´s).
    Experience in an automotive regulated environment (Tier 1 and OEM)

 

Specific qualification, knowledge and skills
    Advanced English proficiency (both written and spoken).
    Experience in improvement projects using Minitab or other statistical software.
    Intermediate-level certification in GD&T with the ability to understand and interpret blueprints.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
    Experience in international travel (primarily to the U.S. or other locations) to support quality issues reported by customers.
    IATF 16949 internal auditor certification.
    ISO 14001 certification in environmental management systems fundamentals.
    Certification in core tools with demonstrated knowledge of SPC, CPK/PPK, and Gage R&R.
    Certification in 8D methodology with proven experience leading cross-functional teams in resolving quality problems.
    Advanced knowledge and practical experience with structured problem-solving tools specific to the automotive industry.
    Proven experience working with international standards (e.g., IPC, USCAR) to resolve quality issues.
    Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in quality improvement projects.
    Supervisory experience overseeing engineers and/or technicians.
