Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

What your background should look like:

Specific qualification, knowledge and skills:
Background in any of the following: portable electronics, power tools, motor controls, power electronics, power supply circuits, consumer electronics, or instrumentation and measurement systems.
Engineering experience: Electronics, statistical analysis methods, automated test fixture, Assembly finish good processes, and troubleshooting with laboratory equipment.
Knowledge on Electrical architecture for Electrical Vehicles or similar architectures.
Knowledge on Contactors, Battery Management System, Charging Inlets is a plus.  
Design and Product Validations. 
Understanding technical standards not limited to IPC, USCAR, Ultrasonic welding or other similar process and Stack-up Analysis.
Experience with instrumentation such as DMM, Oscilloscope, micro–Ohm meter and current probes.
Hi Voltage Test fundamentals (Hipot and IR).
Familiarity with Automotive products portfolios but other industries can be considered. 
Ability to coordinate activities while balancing Customer requirements, timing, and project budget.

Responsabilities:
Communicate with Customers to understand and document all product requirements.   With supply base to insure that purchased products meet required specifications and with manufacturing plants on any new product or quality-related issues.  
Use Customer design manuals and/or industry standard specifications to properly qualify the products. 
Translate drawings from Customers into manufacturable detailed prints that can be understood by the production facility to reliably produce the products.  
Ensure that all Customer requirements are clearly specified on the detail product print - including any special requirements, packaging, testing, etc. Clearly communicate all special requirements and/or potential manufacturing challenges.
Generate a detailed BOM breakdown for each drawing part number.  Review BOM details and any special requirements with Costing function.
Provide support to Sales and Marketing personnel on Customer calls. 
Respond quickly to Customer issues and support Quality Engineering by driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for material, mechanical, and electrical problems.
Ensure all required information is communicated, disposition customer cross-reference and timing for building prototype parts, or shipping components to Customers.  
Provide full support for any samples required for DVT & PVT to the Test Laboratory. 
Provide on-site customer support, as required, during product launches, either with direct presence and/or through coordination with supporting groups like Field Engineering, Front-End Engineering and Customer Satisfaction (regional policies & constraints could apply).
Manage the engineering change process (ECR/ECN). Interact with various functions to ensure engineering change is clearly understood and properly coordinated.
Understand Industry and Customer specs to determine applicability to product.
Interface with other Region's PE's for imported product issues, manufacturing/quality/delivery issues, etc.
Support manufacturing facility on processing issues related to product design/requirements.

Requirements:
Mechatronic Engineer / Electronic Engineer or similar degree.  Other Engineering degrees can be considered if work experience is related with areas described above.   
Good project management skills with ability to multi-task
Excellent written and oral communications both in English and Spanish required
CAD skills.  A plus if have used one of following software NX, CREO, Ansys or similar
