Job Overview

TE's Aerospace Defense & Marine Division is seeking a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing & Process Development Engineer to support process development and manufacturing readiness for new product introductions.

In this role, you will own manufacturing engineering deliverables for assigned NPI projects, provide DFM/DFA input, develop robust manufacturing processes and tooling, support qualification and product launch activities, and help standardize manufacturing practices across multiple sites.

This position offers broad exposure to cross-functional NPI programs and opportunities to grow as a technical leader in manufacturing process development. The role is based in Hermosillo, Sonora, with occasional travel across North America to support manufacturing deployments.

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, or New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying manufacturing equipment, machinery, and processes in production environments.
  • Strong hands-on problem-solving skills with the ability to independently lead technical workstreams.
  • Proven experience applying Lean Manufacturing tools to improve or establish manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong project prioritization and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute Manufacturing Engineering deliverables aligned with the LEANPD process.
  • Develop and qualify assembly tooling and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and ergonomic standards.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) support during product development.
  • Lead PFMEA activities and implement mitigation plans for high-risk processes.
  • Develop value stream maps and optimize process flow through Lean principles.
  • Plan and execute sample builds to support process development and manufacturability assessments.
  • Create process specifications, manufacturing documentation, and operator work instructions.
  • Lead or support the implementation of manufacturing technologies, equipment, and automation solutions for new product introductions.
  • Drive improvements in cost, quality, yield, and manufacturability through Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing readiness for successful product launches.

What Success Looks Like

  • Manufacturing processes are fully prepared to support product launches with validated tooling, documentation, capacity planning, and qualification evidence.
  • Product designs incorporate manufacturability considerations early in the development process.
  • Manufacturing teams receive the technical support, training guidance, and documentation required for successful execution.
  • Lessons learned are captured and leveraged to improve future NPI and process development programs.
