Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Job Description

As Automation Manufacturing Technology (AMT) member:

  • Manage launching of new manufacturing process development projects all the way from concept design to machine build and approval for production.
  • Conduct Proof of Concepts and Design of Experiments to test automation concepts or test new pieces of technology.
  • Research and document the manufacturing automation state of art and identify the technologies with high scale up potential in TE manufacturing sites and distribution centers.
  • Innovate and implement solutions on manufacturing processes to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery or Cost.
  • Document innovations for Intellectual Property Protection.
  • Document savings achieved by process optimization activities.
  • Train others in the core competences of Process Automation to contribute in speeding up technology adoption rates and increasing productivity in all TE sites around the globe.

 

Automation Pipeline Development Specific

  • Partner with Business Units to build an automation pipeline with a 3-year horizon and lead the execution of such projects.
  • Develop machine specifications, validation plans aligned to the voice of the customer and voice of business.
  • Conduct trial runs to ensure our machines meet all the customer requirements before transferring them to production teams.

What your background should look like:

  • Bilingual English-Spanish. Mandarin Chinese, German or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation of industrial processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to different levels in the organization.
  • Experience in precision mechanical design, controls engineering, software development, artificial intelligence, tooling fabrication, lean manufacturing or product engineering is a plus.
