Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

What your background should look like:

Day-to-day responsibilities and scope of role

Work with multi-functional project teams consisting of Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Development, Operations, & Quality
Engage with customers on product application questions and quality concerns for responsible products
Work on design of product line extensions using pertinent information to ensure accuracy and precision in production of the product
Work on VAVE (Value Add Value Engineer) projects for existing product lines to bring down cost and increase product competitiveness
Evaluate and make decisions on manufacturing deviation requests
Manage tool transfer and first article approvals as required
Create & edit designs and product and application specifications as required to facilitate efficient manufacturing and cost-effective manufacturing strategies
Coordinate with product testing labs (internal and external) for product validation & qualification testing
Write Product and Manufacturing change notifications as required for responsible products
Evaluate and implement material changes including polymers, metals, and plating
Complete First Article Approvals, Process Capability Studies, & 8D reports as required
Work with Product Management and Engineering Documentation Systems to support Digital Part Content initiatives

Technical skills and technology needed

Strong communication skills
Self-motivated with effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to proactively drive projects with minimal guidance or supervision
Ability and willingness to provide input on technical solutions both product and manufacturing related
Ability to work with multicultural engineering teams
Knowledge of basic quality trouble shooting techniques
Knowledge of Tolerance analysis and statistical analysis tools
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including over molding a plus
Experienced in using Microsoft Office Tools.
Use of 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Creo) CAD software preferred 

Minimum 3 years post university experience 
Fluent in spoken and written English
Education Background: Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering
Electrical Interconnect and Power Connector Design Experience a plus  
Experience with Sealing Specifications (IP) a plus
