Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

What your background should look like:

Primary Responsibilities:
Understands all product requirements as documented by TE, customer, industry, and military specifications for contacts.
Design/Redesign products in order to solve a customer complaint, manufacturing issue, or to support cost reduction efforts
Determine level of product qualification testing required for tool moves, new tools, new suppliers, and design changes
Initiate and execute Engineering Changes to support product manufacturability. This may include updating drawings and models
Perform engineering analyses using computer aided engineering (CAE) tools available
Review non-conforming material requests for product form, fit, function requirements
Provide root cause and corrective action assistance on design related issues which have resulted in customer complaints, manufacturing, or supplier rejections
Support Procurement in the development of new suppliers
Participates in A3 problem solving teams for design related issues, attends Tier Meetings, Material Review Board, and Fast Response Board problem solving of customer and supplier issues

Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineer degree
1 - 3 years engineering experience, preferably in product design or Metal-Mechanic Manufacturing.
Fully Bilingual English-Spanish
Experience with CREO or SolidWorks design software
Strong mechanical and material analysis; troubleshooting skills
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and SAP
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to travel to domestically and to the US as required for training and to support projects
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Must be a self-managed team player with superior time management skills
Understand good engineering principles and design practices
Familiar with Aerospace specifications and standards
GDT – Geometric Tolerances / stack up analysis experience, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environment preferred
