Job Overview

TE Connectivity is seeking a Manager II, Manufacturing & Process Development Engineering, to support the Automotive Americas business unit. This role leads a team of process development molding engineers and automated assembly manufacturing engineers responsible for developing molds and manufacturing processes for SPC plugs and mold-and-ship components. The Manager will also coordinate closely with manufacturing engineering teams to ensure an effective transition from development through mass production across Automotive Americas plants in Mexico.

Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Development
•    Allocate and balance work across direct reports based on project priorities, workload, and business needs.
•    Provide timely performance feedback, coaching, mentoring, and development to strengthen individual and team capability.
•    Motivate and retain key talent while resolving people, organizational, and functional issues that may affect team performance.
•    Perform core people-management responsibilities, including interviewing, staffing, performance management, and workforce planning.
Manufacturing & Process Development
•    Lead the development of molding and plug assembly manufacturing processes in alignment with LEANPD product-development requirements.
•    Drive excellence in existing manufacturing technologies, methods, and process controls.
•    Identify, evaluate, and implement new manufacturing technologies that improve process capability, tolerance control, quality, and productivity.
•    Partner with Product Development to optimize product designs for manufacturability (DFM), including part design, sample tooling, product samples, and prototypes.
•    Support Supply Chain and supplier-development activities by verifying supplier process compliance, manufacturing capability, and readiness.
Project Manufacturing Leadership
•    Serve as Project Manufacturing Leader (PML) for assigned projects and act as the primary manufacturing interface with sustaining Operations, the Project Launch Team Leader (PLTL), and Lean Industrial Design (LID) management.
•    Coordinate with Operations industrialization teams to ensure plant-driven activities and project deliverables are executed to plan.
•    Own G0-G3 manufacturing quotations across the applicable engineering disciplines for assigned projects.
•    Maintain the Pre-PAC repository for assigned projects and review project P&L assumptions to determine whether the proposed manufacturing strategy is optimal or whether an alternative approach should be considered.
•    Act as the connecting link between Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering, ensuring an effective and efficient transition from product design to production.
•    Maintain regular communication with project-management teams to understand current priorities and future strategic business needs.
•    Provide feedback for project management on project schedule timelines and ensure deliverables are met
•    Manage performance requirements, budgets, and resource plans for the organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
•    Work effectively across multiple organizational levels and influence stakeholders to gain alignment and cooperation.
•    Facilitate and coordinate cross-functional communication across a globally matrixed organization.

 

 

Job Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required; master's degree preferred.
-Minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering, manufacturing, or process-development experience.
-Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in positions such as Manager, Team Leader, Department Head, or similar leadership roles.
-Multi-site and regional manufacturing experience is considered a strong plus.
-Demonstrated management, technical, and project-leadership experience with deep knowledge of advanced manufacturing processes and manufacturing technology/capability development.
-Strong knowledge of injection molding and automated assembly processes within the automotive industry.
-Working knowledge of stamping and  plating (nice to have).
-Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and related industrial engineering and continuous-improvement methods and tools.
-Experience applying DFM principles, tooling/process qualification methods, and production-readiness practices.
-Working knowledge of CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
