Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field required.
  • 1 year of manufacturing process experience with thorough understanding of extrusion in theory and practice required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage long term technical projects highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
    • Wire Extrusion
    • Cable Assembly (High Speed)
    • Taping
    • Electrical Tests
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience with planning and conducting tests to validate equipment and processes.
  • Experience in completing technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing.

    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop processes to manufacture high speed Bulk Cable for use in Data & Devices products.
  • Evaluate and implement processes with scalability and flexibility to support possible product development and growth of product families.
  • Design and perform experiments to understand and tailor material specifications to meet existing product standards and support development of new parts.
  • Integrate with Engineers, Product Development, Quality and/or Production to ensure timely and cost-effective new product development and introduction into manufacturing.
  • Manage cross functional projects related to process development, procurement, installation and validation, adhering to approved project plans and ensuring on time completion of milestone deliverables.
  • Gather comprehensive facility requirements for processes and polymer/solvent handling and generate equipment and process floorplans which meet the requirements of EHS and maintain efficient use of facility space.
  • Develop and execute validation plans and facilitate approval of components through the design and regulatory teams.
  • Estimates production cycle times and efficiencies and staffing requirements to support capacity analysis and identify opportunities to optimize process cost savings.
    • Develop and update key/critical process procedures such as process emergency procedures, process unique safety feature procedures, key process control procedures, and other critical process procedures.
    • Day-to-day interface with operations, laboratory, operations, and maintenance to help maintain, support, troubleshoot, and maximize the unit performance. This also includes preparation and support for unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups.
    • Provide off-hours support to the Shift Supervisors to maintain production quality and efficiency in the Polymerization Process assets.
    • Implement plant standards for control systems development and documentation.
    • Develop and conduct control system and skills training for operations personnel.
    • Support day-to-day operations by attending operations scheduling meetings, prioritizing maintenance jobs, scheduling unit PM’s, and providing support of quality efforts, audits and review of quality KPI’s.
