Job Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer performs chemical analyses using modern analytical chemistry and spectrophotometry techniques, carries out additions, records the results obtained in Truechem, and monitors the operation of the water treatment system.
He is responsible for receiving, storing, transferring, and shipping hazardous and non-hazardous waste used and/or generated in the operation of the Plating area.
He is in charge of the inventory and organization of the chemical storage rooms, both acidic and alkaline.

Chemical, mechanical, metallurgical, and materials engineering
•    > 1-3 years of experience in platinum plating processes or surface treatment.
•    > 70% English language proficiency.
•    Ability to work in a team.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills.   •    Local systems (Alis).
•    SAP.    •    Ability to work under pressure.

Responsabilities

  1. MONITORING OF THE LINES.
    1.1. Perform and record all bath analyses according to the stipulated frequencies.
    1.2. Calculate, record, and perform all chemical additions to the solution tanks.
    1.3. Solve problems with the line baths as necessary through titration, Hull cell, UV Vis, etc. analyses.
    1.4. Maintain safe and clean laboratory conditions. Wash and store all glassware. 5S practices.
    1.5. Minimize water use through Platinado.
    1.6. Maintain the concentrations of the line baths within the established specifications.
    1.7. Schedule and perform bath changes as stipulated or as needed.
    1.8. Perform daily inspection of waste and chemical documentation (i.e., SDS, TDS, etc.).
    1.9. Ensure correct identification of waste to be disposed of in the waste room.
    1.10. Perform monthly inventory of stored chemicals.
    1.11. Prepare requisitions for missing chemicals based on inventory.
    1.12. Reactivation of nickel anodes.
    1.13. Cleaning and smelting of tin bars.
    1.14. Measurement of lead in the tank using X-ray equipment.
    1.15. Calibrate potentiometers.
    1.16. Check tin additives using visible ultraviolet equipment.
    1.17. Test and operate Steam Aging equipment.

    2.1. Perform gravimetric analysis on precious metal baths and resins.
    2.2. Change resins.
    2.3. Handling and calibration of Phase 2 Adaptive System equipment.
    2.4. Wet testing in a fume hood.
    2.5. Dry testing in a muffle furnace.
    2.6. Gold consumption percentage tests (Strip AA) on finished products.
    2.7. Monthly precious metal audits (Gold Accountability).
    2.8. Metal scrap reclaim form (Code D and H).
    2.9. Review of cyanide strippers for gold removal in platinum tooling and paddle strippers.
