Job Overview
Material Planning Teams at TE Connectivity are responsible for planning, scheduling, and tracking the movement of materials throughout the production cycle. They determine the quantity and timing of orders to ensure materials meet production or engineering schedules. These teams initiate purchase or production requests that align with supply agreements and develop the schedules used in the production facility based on forecasts and historical analysis.
They also create specifications for new contract orders, as well as forecasts and plans for labor requirements. The team provides timely and accurate information on supplier performance and may be asked to participate in high-level supplier performance reviews alongside the strategic sourcing team. Additionally, they manage the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to ensure the best quality at the best price.
Job Requirements
- Daily close communication with the Customer Care team to address customer requirements.
- Review MRP Controller (production plans) and release production orders based on capacity and material availability to support customer demand while maintaining inventory levels within target.
- Review and execute Exception Codes (messages) in the system (e.g., 10, 15, 20, and 96):
a) Bring Process Forward (Expedite)
b) Postpone Process (Postpone Planned Receipt)
c) Cancel Process (Cancel Planned Receipt)
d) Stock Fallen Below Safety Stock Level (Safety Stock Not Covered) - Review and execute daily delivery blocks to proactively communicate with the Customer Care team (e.g., 10, 61, WR, ER, etc.).
- Follow the appropriate escalation process to timely communicate any situation that may jeopardize normal business performance.
- Work closely with the production control team to publish the weekly production schedule and monitor schedule adherence.
- Monthly review of customer demand to properly level the workload.
- Weekly analysis and tracking of planning KPIs, on-time delivery, past due, and lead time.
- Serve as a cross-functional support to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. Perform tasks following Standard Work to ensure job requirements are executed according to plan. Support TEOA (TE Operating Advantage) initiatives related to lean manufacturing.
- Daily review of the Backlog report to ensure orders are delivered according to customer requirements.
What your background should look like
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong computer skills (SAP, MS Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Knowledge of basic planning concepts
- 2–5 years of experience
- Strong communication skills
