Job overview
TE Connectivity's Operations Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations and short/long-term planning for the groups they manage. They manage manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, EH&S, shipping/receiving, etc., focusing on the development of technologies and continuous improvement and translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes.
Your main tasks:
· Lead the all-in-on Safety culture for the site.
· Set up the path to achieve key 5-year breakthrough objectives for the business around Sales, Gross Margin, Delivery, and Inclusion.
· Promote robust talent and positive culture development by: reviewing and providing timely feedback to team members regarding their performance.
· Mentoring, developing, and motivating team members; developing internal talent pool.
· Helping resolve functional issues to achieve targeted performance; creating mid-term and long-term development plans for team members; and building a transparent, cooperative, trustworthy working environment for all employees. Build external pipelines for talent.
· Lead the factory cadence and execution to ensure all plant metrics, SQDIP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity) are met.
· Leveraging a strong background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, move the plant forward in its journey of TE Operational Advantage (TEOA) through the planning and implementation of a lean toolset.
· Set and clarify requirements and expectations for direct and matrixed team members based on the strategic direction and needs of the business (Hoshin Kanri).
· Oversee operations including supply chain management, capacity planning and forecasting, routine business reviews, and engineering and quality functional support.
· Cascade strategic objectives from Segment, Business Unit, and Operations functional leadership.
· Plan, direct, and monitor production activities with the objective of maximizing the use of organizational resources to meet or exceed established targets for TEOA (LEAN), Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Employee Engagement, and Talent Development.
· Drive the creation and deployment of Continuous Improvement initiatives which enable functional areas and the site to meet or exceed its Operating Plan.
· Build a high-performing organization that consistently overdelivers and fulfills customer needs.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Sales, Engineering, Finance, and HR organizations.
Your ideal background:
· BS degree in Engineering required; MBA preferred.
· Minimum 10 years’ experience working with a manufacturing organization with proven success, and minimum 5 years in a prior plant manager position.
· Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, with focus in SMED, VRK, Standard Work, Daily Management best practices.
· Previous experience in Supply Chain.
· A background in change management from start to finish.
· Knowledge of financial terms and concepts as they apply to manufacturing finance.
· Experience working with multiple customers and suppliers in a low-volume, high-mix business.
· Strong preference for candidates with backgrounds in process manufacturing industries such as metals, molding, fiber optics, connectors.
· A proven performance record as a transformational leader who has significantly improved the performance of a global business through process improvements.
