TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineers design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

 

Our Hastings site is our core manufacturing site in the UK where we manufacture connectors for the Aerospace, Defence and Autosport Industry, it has the capability of taking raw materials and processing them until we have manufactured the final product. 


Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Automation
Job Overview

 

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be focused on delivery of automation and cost saving projects to improve the efficiency, quality and repeatability of all production areas and driving long term cost reduction.  

Additionally they will create supporting documentation and provide training to ensure successful implementation.


Job Responsibilities
•    Provide leadership and drive forward a wide range of projects including cost reduction, process reliability, quality improvements, efficiency gains, capacity increases and capital investments inline with business KPI’s and stratergy.
•    Build relationships and work closely with external vendors to deliver automation projects and improvements.
•    Build relationships and work closely with the global engineering teams in TE to leverage their support and expertise. 
•    Capture cost savings and return on investment using TE’s TEBIT system and contribute towards the sites cost saving targets.
•    Use technical expertise in automation to define, document and provide training for current best practice, ensuring cost effective, repeatable and high quality practices are used for both existing production and New Product Introductions (NPI).
•    Ensure costs are captured and calculated correctly by maintaining the integrity of routed times, work centres and costed batch sizes in SAP.
•    To drive the appropriate level of mental effort in the early stages of projects to complete the APQP/PPAP process as required including but not limited to FMEA’s, process flows and design for manufacture.

What your background should look like:

 

•    Extensive practical knowledge of assembly techniques and a strong background in manufacturing engineering.
•    Delivery of automation projects and cost saving improvements.
•    HNC or Degree in Mechanical or production Engineering
•    The ability to programme, run and trouble shoot production problems on automated and semi-automated equipment as well as manual processes.
•    Continuous improvement involving Material Replenishment and Flow, Cell Design, Quick Change Over (SMED), 5S+1, Mistake Proofing and Standards of Work.
