Our Hastings site is unique to TE Connectivity, as it is only one of a few sites where it has all functions needed on site to take raw material in and ship a fully functional connector out to its customers. The Role

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will carry out a wide range of assignments to improve the efficiency, quality and repeatability of the machining production areas. Create supporting documentation and provide training to ensure successful implementation. TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment.

 

Support the achievement of daily business goals and drive long term technical and cost reduction projects. To assist with the manufacture of NPI jobs when required whilst providing technical support in trouble-shooting production problems. Providing timely and efficient routings for the manufacturing areas.

 

Your main responsibility will be the CNC department including second operations but also day to day support in the plating department. You will use technical expertise to define, document and provide training for current best practice, ensuring cost effective, repeatable and high-quality practices are used for both existing production and New Product Introductions (NPI).

 

Drive forward a wide range of projects including cost reduction, process reliability, quality improvements, efficiency gains, capacity increases and capital investments inline with business KPI’s and strategy. Enabling the smooth integration of new products into production by documenting tooling, work holding and gauging requirements in routings and specifications.

 

To have the ability to create efficient and effective CNC turning programmes for multi axis, multi spindle machines.  Use this knowledge to define the parameters and process for other CNC programmers to follow and provide the appropriate checks and balances on their work to maintain standards.

 

 

About You

 

  • The ideal candidate will hold proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Hold an HNC or Degree in Mechanical or production Engineering
  • Extensive practical knowledge of CNC turning gained through experience in a production environment of a related industry.
  • The ability to programme, run and trouble shoot production problems on CNC Turning machines and second operation processes.
  • Computer literate using Microsoft software.
  • Previous experience maintaining an MRP system.
  • Experience ensuring quality and lessons learned with flow diagrams, PFMEA’s, control plans and quality inspection plans.
  • Ability to use own initiative to ‘troubleshoot’ problems in Production areas as they arise using industry tools such as 5 why’s, fishbone diagrams and 8D reports.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be creative.
  • Experience with SAP and Minitab.
  • Tool and fixture design experience with SolidWorks, Creo or other design package.
