Job Overview

Diagnoses problems and performs maintenance of complex equipment; ensures specific manufacturing behaviors are in line with practice and operation standards.

Job Requirements

  • Compiles systematic diagrams or reports on manufacturing procedures and results, facility utilization, failure summaries, etc. and advises on process optimization.
  • Participates in and monitors manufacturing processes; implements appropriate operation standards and follows production regulations.
  • Reschedules manufacturing tasks among technicians to cope with requirement variances.
  • Guides junior technicians on how to operate and maintain equipment, and provides further training, as necessary.

What your background should look like

  • To provide safe, accurate and efficient CNC programs to a timescale which does not jeopardise on-time product delivery.
  • To prove out new and/or optimised CNC programs, establishing safe and consistent methods, while utilising best practice processes to ensure efficient set and cycle times. 
  • To liaise with shop floor supervision to ensure that an effective sequence of prove outs and production runs are maintained.
  • To ensure that all tooling/workholding requirements are identified and provided prior to production.
  • To initiate process / method improvements and cost saving projects for the CNC Lathes in the production areas.
  • To set the standard for any new or existing CNC programs.
  • To create component ‘tool sheets’ with all necessary information using the D.N.C system. 
  • To liaise with Engineering to ensure all components are designed for manufacture.
  • Support Production/Sales/Engineering in the preparation of Process Specifications and Routings. 
  • To train and develop colleagues and trainees. 
  • Assist and provide cover for the manufacture of NPI components in the machine shops.
  • Assist and contribute to PFMEA’s. 
  • To keep abreast of technical developments particularly with cutting tool technology. 
  • Support the introduction and auditing of TEOA within the production and NPI areas. 
  • Observe and comply with Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the business from time to time 

Short Description

  • Computer literate using Microsoft software
  • Experience using SAP. 
  • Identifies and recommends new or improved manufacturing processes and technical developments.
  • The ability to programme CNC lathes using ESPRIT is essential.
  • Ability to use own initiative to ‘troubleshoot’ problems in Production areas as they arise.
  • Drive and passion to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be creative.
  • Sustained high degree of concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail when under pressure.
