Job Overview

TE Connectivity is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist (Sliding Head) to join our Machine Shop team in Hastings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the set-up, optimisation and operation of a range of Citizen, Deco and Escomatic machines, producing high-precision components to demanding quality standards. This role requires a proactive individual with strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Every team member is responsible for maintaining high standards of housekeeping and working in accordance with TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a range of machines, including Citizen, Deco and Escomatic machines.
  • Install and adjust tooling, guide bushes, spindle liners, collets and bar feed systems.
  • Verify programs and machine settings using appropriate measuring equipment and first-off inspection techniques.
  • Apply offsets and program adjustments to maintain quality and production performance.
  • Ensure component compliance in accordance with engineering drawings and quality procedures using a range of inspection equipment.
  • Monitor machine performance and minimise downtime to maximise productivity and OEE.
  • Record daily operations on machine tools and provide OEE results as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the department, supporting TEOA initiatives and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Maintain and improve time standards through process optimisation.
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance as required.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area.Observe health and safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and government legislation.
  • Adhere to company procedures and quality standards at all times.
  • Support with any other ad-hoc tasks as required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the business within Production or elsewhere as required.

What your background should look like:

  • Time-served apprentice with C&G, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience setting and operating Sliding Head CNC lathes and/or Escomatic machines within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience carrying out machine set-ups, tooling changes, guide bush adjustments and bar feeder set-up.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
  • Experience using a range of precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work alternating early and late shifts with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Organised and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.Fully flexible with tasks and the ability to multi-skill.
  • Ensure compliance with all TE policies and procedures, EH&S requirements, and a safety-first culture whilst delivering exceptional customer experience.
