Job Overview

The Calibration & Metrology Specialist will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in the Electrical, Mechanical, Dimensional, DC/Low Frequency, Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Time & Frequency disciplines to ensure measurement accuracy. The Calibration Specialist will identify and utilize appropriate measurement procedures.

 

Responsibilities

•    Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in one or more of the following disciplines – Electrical, Mechanical, Dimensional, DC/Low Frequency, Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Time & Frequency, in order to ensure compliance with published specifications
•    Maintain primary and/or intrinsic calibration standards
•    Maintain secondary and/or working calibration standards
•    Work with outside suppliers and OEM’s for calibration and repair of measurement and test equipment including fiber optic test equipment.
•    Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repair of precision equipment
•    Develop calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements
•    Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.
•    Analyze measurement data for identifying abnormalities, trends and/or predicting future values
•    Identify IM&TE out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.
•    Identify and correct measurement errors, as applicable
•    Prepare calibration reports and certificates using Fluke METTEAM and METCAL software
•    Inspect and evaluate new calibration standards for proper operation before releasing for calibration use
•    Adapt existing calibration equipment, standards, and techniques to accomplish unique measurements tasks for which they are not principally used
•    Apply engineering knowledge to the design and development of calibration methods, fixtures, and IM&TE not commercially available
•    Perform uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and associated measurement processes
•    Conduct technical audits of the calibration laboratory to verify traceability of standards and compliance with published standards and guidelines
•    Develop software for calibrating IM&TE using Fluke METCAL
•    Develop, implement, and maintain the laboratory's quality systems per published standards and guidelines
•    Interact with technicians, engineers, management, purchasing, equipment & calibration suppliers
•    Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
 

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).   Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.

What your background should look like:

•    Minimum AS degree, formal PMEL training, or equivalent. ASQ CCT Certification a plus
•    Must be able to perform general math and algebra functions
•    Understanding of basic statistics
•    Must be able to perform basic trigonometry functions
•    Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
•    Technical writing ability
•    Intermediate ability to troubleshoot, repair, align and optimize precision equipment
•    Intermediate computer skills
•    Proficient in use of MS Word and Excel
•    Knowledge of Fluke METTEAM and METCAL calibration software a strong plus
•    Minimum 3 years of calibration experience. Will consider less than 3 years if applicant’s AS degree is in Measurement Science & Metrology Technology
•    Knowledge of Quality Management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and Z540)
•    Must have outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
•    Strong attention to details
•    Must be a self-motivator, work as a team player, and follow written procedures
•    Support TE Environmental Health and Safety initiatives
•    Other duties as required

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $57,440-$71,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
