Job description:
The role’s primary responsibilities include providing technical support to customers, developing system level expertise and lead the Product Definition Process for sensors in the Aerospace, Defense and Marine market and applications. This involves working closely with the customer systems and product line managers to provide technical support on existing products and define the future differentiated products needed to grow the business. This individual is the next level of technical support after the Field applications engineers and before the engineering team. This individual should be or could become an expert in customers’ applications, their use cases, understanding the technology tradeoffs and long-term evolution of their system and define sensor products and portfolios that win now and in the future. This role requires a high degree of technical acumen and collaboration within the company and the individual should be well versed at working with research, applications, and marketing teams as well as with customers and external partners.
Key Candidate Attributes:
• Strong technical background in key customer systems (pertaining to defense, commercial aerospace, space and security applications) and what is driving their product requirements.
• Candidate must understand how customers are making decisions and tradeoffs for their product selection
• Candidates must be well-versed at communicating technical needs and requirements (both in writing and orally) with internal teams and external customers.
• Passion for problem solving and understanding system complexity
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a cross-functional team
• Demonstrated ability to self-manage and meet deadlines
• Strong inherent drive to achieve results
Position responsibilities:
• Acquire a deep application knowledge of products to quickly understand the strengths and weaknesses and areas of improvement, clearly establishing competitive analysis and supporting defining the value proposition for new products
• Build a deep understanding of the market, competition and customer needs and provide technical support to customer, Distribution, sales, FAEs.
• Conduct technical evaluations of early concepts to produce feasibility analysis and investigate adaptions of existing technologies to new applications.
• Define and drive the development of promotional tools (evkits, ref design, demo kits).
• Support Go-To-Market strategy by providing promotional content for marketing campaigns, application notes, white papers, user guides
• Feedback customer application knowledge, gather market and customer requirements and translate them into next generation product requirements.
• Define next generation sensor products. Work with customers, sales teams, applications and product development engineers, and the product line manager to identify, specify, and propose optimal new products for target applications.
• Solve system-level problems with the innovative products you define
• Understand competitors’ products and solutions and the evolution of target markets.
• Play a prominent role in the design of our technology, IP roadmaps and support long term product roadmaps.
• Travel 1-2 weeks per quarter to meet with our strategic customers and partners
What your background should look like:
Experience: 8 plus years of industry experience in the role(s) of applications engineer, systems engineer and system architect or product definer. Direct experience in a previous customer-facing role(s) is highly desired. Willingness and ability to travel to customer meetings located around the world (10%-20% of the time).
Education: Bachelor degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering. Nice to have a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic engineering or related discipline. Specific domain knowledge in power management desired.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $133,000-$194,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
