Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D Engineering teams have a considerable impact on new product development projects, promoting excellence in existing technologies and manufacturing methods and pursuing the implementation of new manufacturing technologies for better process control and tolerances. The R&D Technician support product development through the creation of tooling, Prototypes, and validation efforts. They also support the design, development, as well as tooling and processes qualification to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems. Activities include supporting DOE’s, feasibility studies, prototype fabrication, and testing of new and modified NPD products.

 

This position requires access to information that is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).   Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent residents, persons granted asylee status in the U.S., or persons admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide expert technical support to engineers across a wide range of tasks, contributing to the successful completion of NPD projects.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to build, test, and refine NPD test equipment.
  • Engage in detailed discussions with engineers to understand and evaluate Prototype builds, test procedures, and results, providing insightful feedback and recommendations.
  • Utilize proficiency in hand tools to support various technical and assembly tasks, ensuring precision and quality in all work performed.
  • Apply knowledge of basic mechanical and manufacturing concepts to assist in the design, testing, and troubleshooting of NPD products.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to effectively collaborate in a team environment and convey technical information clearly.
  • Leverage basic computer proficiency to document test results, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records.
  • Employ working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel to manage data, create technical documents, and support NPD project tasks.
  • Interpret engineering drawings with a high degree of accuracy to guide assembly and testing processes.
  • Support in Design of Experiments (DOE) and other testing to understand the responses to design and manufacturing variables.
  • Support in build fixturing and jigs to be used in the manufacturing process of new products.
  • Support in Prototype build activities to ensure compliance with design intent.

What your background should look like:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required with 3-5 years of work related experience.
  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Early-career candidates with Undergraduate degrees (BSME) welcome.
  • Prior experience in mechanical assembly and quality assurance required. 
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with hands-on problem-solving responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement principles preferred.
  • Understanding of the NPD process from design initiation to production release.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Utilize 2D and 3D CAD skills to review and modify models and drawings preferred.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $53,900– 80,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
