Job Overview
We are looking for a senior microfluidic engineer who is highly motivated to join the new product development team at TE mondragón to design and develop breakthrough microfluidic-based products for the IVD industry. You will serve as a key member driving the design and prototyping of novel polymer/plastic microfluidic devices from the ground up to early manufacturing stage for our customers in a multi-disciplinary environment. It is essential that you are a hands-on person with excellent engineering skills and driven to achieve project goals. Primary Responsibilities
- Act as project technical lead on the microfluidic consumable development; drive design and prototyping of microfluidic devices; and perform experiments to evaluate and iterate the device design systematically to meet customer needs.
- Assist our customers in defining system specifications and requirements to achieve their goals and lead the engineering project team to achieve them.
- Develop plans that support project goals and milestones, communicate, and coordinate engineer teams to efficiently move products through the development pipeline.
- Design and manufacture plastic/polymer microfluidic devices for testing and use design-for-manufacturing best practices to support transition to production.
- Work in collaboration with Project Management to fill and maintain project documentation as defined by TE quality standards (ISO13485).
- Assist with development of internal capabilities by providing technical expertise.
Qualifications
- PhD or MS with 5 or more years of experience in Biomedical, Chemical, Mechanical or related Engineering disciplines.
- Experience in microfabrication techniques and technologies, including experience in microfluidic device design, prototyping and testing is required.
- Experience in 3D CAD modeling, multiphysics simulation tools, knowledge of mechanics, fluid dynamics, and basic biology.
- Experience with ISO13485/FDA 21 CFR part 820 is a plus.
Required Skills
- Must have excellent experimental design, data analysis / visualization, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and adapt multiple tasks within product development projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with engineers, management, and other stakeholders across all relevant disciplines are required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
