NPD Sr Microfluidics Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a talented engineer who is highly motivated to join the new product development team at TE Mondragon to design and develop breakthrough microfluidic-based products for the IVD industry. You must be willing to develop a strong technical background in the field of Microfluidics and Biological applications. You will drive the design and fabrication of novel polymer/plastic microfluidic devices from the ground up to early manufacturing stage for our customers in a multi-disciplinary environment. It is essential that you are a hands on person with excellent engineering skills and a personal drive to achieve project goal.


  • Drive design, characterization, and testing of complex microfluidic devices at component, subassembly and full plastic assembly level from concept through prototype.
  • Develop plans, communicate, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to demonstrate feasibility of new, customized microfluidic concepts (and troubleshoot difficult problems with existing ones) to efficiently move products through the development pipeline.
  • Work with broader microfluidic team to define requirements and technical specifications, establish test methods to fully characterize device performance, systematically execute experiments, and ensure product manufacturability and reliability.
  • Create and own critical product development documents such as product requirement document, verification plan and reports, and design failure mode effect analysis amongst others under design controls within microLIQUID quality standards (ISO13485).

What your background should look like:

  • Engineering or physics degree with Ph.D., Masters, or significant industry experience
  • 3+ years of research or industry experience in product development.
  • Experience working with designing microfluidic devices for life science or medical device project.
  • Strong knowledge in principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, microfluidics, and material science 
  • applied to microfluidics.
  • Experience with Solid Works or other equivalent CAD packages.
  • Experience with ISO13485/FDA 21 CFR part 820 is a plus.
