TE Connectivity in Greensboro, NC is looking for a Tool & Die Maker to operate and maintain high speed stamping presses to standard rate. Check product being produced to specified Quality Inspection Plan (Q.I.P.) to assure conformance to print requirements and to do complex die repair, rebuild and conditioning as required to maintain the dies to a quality level that will meet these requirements on conventional and proprietary high-speed progressive stamping dies. Work in shop repairing dies and doing changeovers as required to meet customer demands. Handle typically all die repair situations without supervision. Be proficient in all shop equipment and heat-treating techniques and utilize machinist skills in operating the optical profile grinder, gig grinder and E.D.M. plunge machine. Lead and instruct other less skilled associates in the metal trades including die repair, press operation and machine shop. Work closely with die engineering to help drive continuous improvement within all aspects of the stamping department as related to Quality, Cost and Productivity. Assist in monitoring spare tooling for availability and spikes in usage, which may indicate problem areas.  

 

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma/degree or Journeyman’s Certificate (or foreign equivalent), plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.    

 

Special Requirements:  Requires 5 years of experience with the following:

  1. Mechanical Troubleshooting.
  2. Die adjustment and repair.
  3. Machining - surface grinding.
  4. Die assembly - conditioning.
  5. Tooling inspection and quality control.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Tooling Teams perform the manufacturing functions related to metal working dies and tool making. They are responsible for completing all assignments to construct, modify and condition metal working dies and may fabricate new gages, cutting or forming tools and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specifications. They perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solve problems relating to unusual materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following TE Connectivity's EH&S policies and procedures.
