Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Materials Planning Teams are responsible for the plans, schedules, and monitoring of the movement of material through the production cycle. They determine quantity and order date for materials to meet production or engineering schedules, initiate purchase or production requisitions compliant with supply agreements, and develop the schedule to be used in the production facility based on forecasts and historical analysis. The Team develops specifications for new contract orders as well as forecasts and plans for labor requirements. They provide timely and accurate input on supplier performance and may be asked to participate in higher level supplier performance reviews with the strategic sourcing team. They also monitor cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.

The ,aster Scheduler has responsibility for developing and issuing executable production schedules for new launches, localizations and sustaining transitions in accordance with the established Scheduling methodology in order to meet or exceed customer service level goals. This includes verification of available capacity and material and managing assigned kanban replenishment signals. This position will set appropriate stocking levels based on production and demand. The Materials Analyst is responsible for researching and setting appropriate MRP signals in SAP and all planning data to optimize and simplify the planning process while maximizing the resources. The Materials Analyst coordinates daily with the Production Supervisors of the assigned work centers to validate or modify the production schedule and to resolve issues affecting schedule adherence and customer service level performance. The Materials Analyst is also the primary point of contact for all customer service inquiries and issues and is responsible for providing accurate and timely lead time estimates and order status information.


Responsibilities & Qualifications


  • Plans production schedules for all product lines. 
  • Generate and review plant capacity data.
  • Plans flow of work through plant, considering raw materials and shipping dates of finished products
  • Alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Follows the progress of work on assigned orders to ensure the production schedule is being met, investigates incomplete or delayed orders.
  • Working closely with cross-functional leads, identify, plan and resolve inconsistencies and gaps between demand and supply.
  • Coordinates and communicates production requirements within the respective Value Stream. 
  • Works with buyer to assure raw materials and purchased parts meet production and delivery requirements.
  • Responsible for expedites within value streams, as required, to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Monitors lead times and lead time offsets in the system to reflect flow and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Detailed Capacity Planning
  • Communication and coordination with Production Supervisors and Customer Service.  The production planner is accountable to schedule execution and works closely with production supervisors to ensure schedule adherence and recovery if required.
  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement activities related to production planning, customer service and inventory management.
  • Review SAP data integrity for assigned work centers and materials.
  • Participate in Lean activities and support the factory tier process as required.
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels ensuring uninterrupted supply of parts while maintaining optimal inventory levels, along with ensuring customer reliability and meeting target inventory turns.
  • Responsible to plan for both internal and external production resources required to support customer delivery schedules.

    Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Business, Logistics or related field.
  • Familiarity with TS16949 and AS9100 preferred
  • 3-5 years' scheduling operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize workload as conflicts arise and understand and deal with the impacts of their priority decisions, meeting customer needs while protecting the interests of the company.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve inconsistencies and gaps between demand and supply (forecast/customer orders vs. supply chain, shop capacity and manpower)
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access required, 
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, SAP system knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent collaboration skills required.  Able to effectively interface at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of processes and machines related to products manufactured within a given value stream.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years material management / material requirements planning / master production scheduling experience
  • SAP experience
  • LEAN implementation experience a plus
  • Six Sigma Green Belt a plus
  • Advanced degree is a plus
