TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

The Device Engineering group is recruiting a number of R&D / Product Development Managers to support the business as it grows and expands its product portfolio.  The business is committed to supporting our customer’s product development and commercialization needs as we serve customers from early stage start-ups to the large multinational types across Europe, Middle East, Asia and the United States.

The successful candidate will be based at the Parkmore facility in Galway and will report to the R&D Manager.  



Job Title: R&D / Product Development Manager


The Role:


Creganna are continually researching & developing new and novel products and have an exciting new opportunity in our Research & Development group.


The R&D Product Development Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Design Engineers & Technicians in developing Creganna's portfolio of exciting and innovative new products.  This senior key position within the Device Engineering group will enable the successful candidate to demonstrate their broad range of development and leadership skills in a fast paced dynamic environment. In leading the team the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with other Senior Management levels across the organization.  



Job Responsibilities


  • Lead the team in all elements of the Research & Development on projects  from concept generation through to design verification.
  • Guide the team in applying leading and cutting edge technologies to provide the optimum design solution.
  • Manage the communication with the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure a timely and optimised product design.
  • Build the engineering group skills sets / strength in depth through growth and development of team.   





  • A level 8 engineering degree, or equivalent.
  • 8+ year’s industry management experience in a medical product development environment.

Detailed Job Requirements


  • Technically steer R&D team members guided by a Staff Engineer across a number of projects.
  • Responsible for the delivery of a robust device design in accordance with PMO plan / schedule.  
  • Liaise with PMO on Project Resourcing & Project Progress.
  • Clear lines of communication with device development teams on project day to day activities, technical issues etc.
  • Dashboard management and associated meetings to review progress against project KPI’s.
  • Management of team members career paths in accordance with Global Job Framework (GJF).  
  • Resource planning and management and efficient utilization of resources.  
  • Providing input into new projects being reviewed by Lead Review / Deal Desk / PAC Review.
  • Development planning for people to build highly skilled Engineering group.
  • Working closely with peer in Process Development group to ensure collective robust design / robust process.
  • Reporting device design and development progress to all key stakeholders and site leadership.
