Manager - Enterprise Storage Platforms

Job Overview

The Enterprise Storage Platforms Manager will be responsible for managing the global team that oversees enterprise storage platforms within TE. Their key responsibilities will include day to day support as well as planning, implementation and standardization across the global footprint. Candidates for this role will have responsibility of a large globally dispersed team supporting a diverse infrastructure. TE’s global infrastructure server, storage, backup and disaster recovery (SSBR) function supporting 40,000+ TE users in 50+ countries utilizing 1,000+ applications.  SSBR devices located in both primary data center hubs in US, Germany, Japan, China and Hong Kong and in TE site locations around the globe.

TE Connectivity’s IT Software and Systems Administration Teams support mainframe, Unix, Linux, and Windows based servers. This includes installation, configuration, ongoing maintenance and backup/recovery of physical and virtual servers. They monitor servers for performance and availability, and works with customers and vendors to troubleshoot hardware and software issues. TE’s IT Software and Systems Administration Teams analyze application requirements and recommend appropriate hardware configuration to meet requirements, install, configure, upgrade, monitor, troubleshoot technical systems software such as middleware, portal, e-mail, collaboration, unified communications, systems monitoring, trouble ticketing, software distribution, etc. They also evaluate new products, upgrade features and recommend toolset selection.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the global enterprise storage team using a follow the sun support model
  • Participates and often owns P1/P2 issues and manages them from onset through resolution to RCA
  • Delivers strategic planning and roadmap development for storage technologies for including hardware, tools and software layers by working with peers
  • Communicates with other teams such as VMWare/Compute and Network teams to ensure end to end alignment
  • Must be well versed with SAN/NAS platforms including current TE Standards of both HPe Primera and NetApp (FAS and AFF series). Additional knowledge in platforms like Hitachi, Dell Compellent and Oracle ZS are a plus
  • Ensures proper replication/mirroring/backup of platforms to align with DR and recoverability standards
  • Promotes standardization across builds, configurations and processes with automation in mind
  • Suggests, implements and manages tool sets. Implements best practices to ensure the overall integrity of storage infrastructure
  • Drives cost efficiencies across storage infrastructure
  • Manages vendor relationships with all vendors/VARs related to server infrastructure
  • Ensure all projects with that involve storage infrastructure are delivered on time and within budget
  • Provides oversight and is accountable for disaster recovery planning and execution as it pertains to storage environments
  • Responsible for developing, overseeing, and controlling the storage fiscal operating and capital expenditures
  • Responsible for staffing and annual performance evaluations
  • Responsible for related contracts through collaborating with Procurement and Contract Management teams 
  • Provides training and mentorship to other professional employees
