Job Overview

This position is within the internal tooling center. Candidates must be proficient in all shop equipment including surface grinder, sinker EDM, wire EDM and CNC machining. Capable of working to close tolerances up to +/- .0001. Must have an understanding of efficient machining and measuring practices. Programming and Creo experience is required.

A Day in the Life

  • Follow safety guidelines as a plant priority.
  • Works with quality top of mind.
  • Studies blueprints, determines machining operations necessary and determines proper sequence of operations considering such factors as type of metal, shape of metal, size of part, finish requirements and machining time.
  • Provides instruction and technical guidance to trainees and/or peers in area(s) of specialty.
  • Follow company and department guidelines, procedures and policies.
  • Strong Team Work skills.
  • Ensures and works with Production to implement any necessary safety controls or procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, Power Point).
  • Other duties as assigned.

What your background should look like:


  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s Degree in Toolmaking or related field is preferred.
  • Completion of Accredited 4-year Apprenticeship program strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Toolmaking, Die Making, or Mold Making.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to program and operate 3 & 5 axis hard mills, CNC EDM machines wire & Plunge,  surface grinders and related shop equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Creo, Power Mill and Power Shape.
  • Ability to operate precision measurement devices.
  • Knowledge of tool design and understanding of fit, form and function of Die or Mold Tooling.
  • Understanding different type tool steels and carbide.
  • Excellent math skills including a working knowledge of trigonometry which includes roll dimensions and compound angles.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
