Shipper/Receiver Lead (Picking)

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Shipping & Receiving Teams perform a combination of manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties. They use computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting incoming and outgoing shipments. They follow shipping practices and procedures, transportation routing, schedules and requirements. The Shipping & Receiving Teams receive incoming materials and prepare materials for shipment. They process freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents. They also route merchandise to destinations.

General Purpose
Performs roles as required to achieve highest inventory accuracy level and the highest level of internal/external customer service. Lead, coordinate and communicate work priorities/assignments to employees as directed by operations supervisor to meet production. Helps ensure employees understand DC goals

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides direction and leadership in production floor to meet daily on-time delivery requirements.  Assists in the fair administration of company policies.  
  • Participates in activities leading to understand and accomplish TE goals.
  • Assists in the training of new employees.
  • Operates material handling equipment, i.e. forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers, etc.
  • Actively participates on teams both self-management and TEOA.
  • Ensures a continuous flow in the picking area
  • Anticipates, identifies and communicates problems if needed. Uses problem solving skills to initiate action for resolution.
  • Communicates with Shipper/Receivers on the shift providing direction, assignments and realignment of resources as necessary. Balances workload and report to Shift Leader of any resources need to address demand and priorities. 
  • Understands and follows all safety, security and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinates work assignments with Shift Leader and reports to Inventory Planning Department of any discrepancy or issue affecting a customer. 
  • Investigates any discrepancy that can arise at any of the processes on the warehouse: Receiving, picking, shipping, etc. 
  • Can fulfill the function of any Shipper/Receiver and act as such if needed. 
  • Communicates with Shift Leader of any potential need of overtime. 
  • Acts as a backup of the Shift Leader. 
  • Releases orders to the floor for picking and processing on applicable instances. 
  • Performs any special task that the Supervisor indicates.


What your background should look like:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Logistics, Distribution or Warehousing
  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.  
  • Exercises judgment in maintaining accurate records and storage and disbursement of material.
  • Requires the ability to plan and perform a sequence of operations.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime on short notice.
