Job Overview

The Skilled Trades Leader III manages day to day assignments for the Tool & Die Maker Apprenticeship Program in the Tool shop.  To evaluate the condition of the Dies and make recommendations as to how to improve their performance.  Working with Shop Supervision and Engineering to accomplish the task.

A Day in the Life

  • Act as key contact to Department Manager and ensure good communication and information flow on status of spare parts, work orders, projects.
  • Support all TE safety initiatives within the department not limited to but including, OSHA standards, PPE compliance, S.C.A.T. resolutions, monthly training, fire/disaster drills and execution thereof.
  • To train apprentice on all shop equipment and best die practices to maintain stamping dies.
  • Ensure work orders are completed in an efficient timely fashion in accordance with department procedures and operation priorities.
  • Support actions and assignments to ensure conformance to TE procedures, policies, and methods.
  • Support Department Manager in evaluating and verifying employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Supports and identifies staff development and training needs and ensures training goals are obtained.

What your background should look like:

  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker with 7+ years’ experience with high speed stamping dies preferred.
  • Candidate needs considerable knowledge of standards, methods, principles, practices, tools and equipment used in Tool & Die Making.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, & Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Individual must be a “Team Player” that can work in a fasted paced environment with multiple changing priorities.
