Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Materials Planning Teams are responsible for the plans, schedules, and monitoring of the movement of material through the production cycle. They determine quantity and order date for materials to meet production or engineering schedules, initiate purchase or production requisitions compliant with supply agreements, and develop the schedule to be used in the production facility based on forecasts and historical analysis. The Team develops specifications for new contract orders as well as forecasts and plans for labor requirements. They provide timely and accurate input on supplier performance and may be asked to participate in higher level supplier performance reviews with the strategic sourcing team. They also monitor cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Proficiency in ERP and Machine Shop Planning Tools with demonstrated expertise in materials planning in a high mix manufacturing environment 
  • Exercise discretion & independent judgment in critical decision making 
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, resolve problems, meet deadlines and handle a fast-paced critical environment 
  • Change and adapt to drive efficiencies and improvement 
  • Provide direction to production schedulers & material handlers concerning daily production flow 
  • Experience and judgment to organize, plan and accomplish department objectives with degree of creativity and latitude expected to fulfil variety of duties 
  • Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies & procedures 
  • Demonstrate at a high level the ability to obtain & summarize data for management in a meaningful summary that allows them to derive successful, beneficial decisions 
  • Develop & maintain professional, effective relationships with internal and external customers 
  • Sound interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel and customers 
  • Lead & Support TEOA initiatives on the floor as they relate to material flow 
  • Support material manager by driving to meet department metrics 

 

What your background should look like:

  • Proven work experience as a Material Planner or a similar role in a Production Environment.  
  • Understanding or related knowledge of manufacturing processes.  
  • Ability to manage time effectively.  
  • Excellent communication skills.  
  • Good organizational skills.  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools.  
  • Ability to solve manage complex problems.  
  • Should work in a team as well as independently.  
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.  
  • A keen eye for details.
