Job Overview

To operate and maintain CNC machinery, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality precision components in line with engineering specifications. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and collaboration with the production team to meet performance and delivery targets.

Job Requirements

  • •    To observe and operate in accordance with Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees, workers and visitors
    •    To produce works to a high, expected TE Quality standard. Any Quality issues to be notified to Supervisor
    •    Implement a customer focussed operational culture 
    •    To set and operate first/Second operation CNC machines and support with setting and/or operating second operation machines as required ensuring parts are to the correct quality specified on the drawing and routing instructions, in line with the fundamental rules of component manufacture.
    •    Achieve the required standard times, to achieve departmental efficiency target.
    •    To understand priorities and to work towards achieving delivery objectives.
    •    To work to maintain and improve time standards so that late jobs may be minimised.
    •    To maintain a high level of house-keeping at all times in order that 5S+1 and health and safety standards may be maintained.
    •    To ensure all required maintenance is carried out in accordance to TPM plan.
    •    To adhere to company procedures at all times.
    •    When required, to carry out TEOA/KAISAN activities.
    •    Adhere to TE’s core values and behaviours at all times.
    •    Ensure 5S is maintained across the shop to the standards required.
    •    Ensure OLE and Hour by Hour sheets are filled out daily, and to a high standard.
    •    Work within the team performing the various stages of production as defined by the Tyco Electronics Operating Advantage (Lean Manufacturing), Quality, Safety, Company Procedures and Industry Standards.
    •    To ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with the appropriate company procedures.
    •    To have the ability to handle various tasks simultaneously and be able to adapt to changing priorities and urgencies as they arise.
    •    To operate machines/equipment and carry out all other activities in a safe and responsible manner and maintain a clean and tidy environment within the department.
    •    Work to a manufacturing schedule and notify Supervisor promptly of any issues that may affect the completion of the schedule.
    •    Report any deviations to Shift Leader/ Supervisor and assist in resolving non-compliances where necessary.
    •    Prepare and complete all documentation accurately, legibly and in a timely manner.
    •    Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, procedures and quality within the department.
    •    To participate in training programs which are relevant to the role and your personal development.
    •    When required, support training of other colleagues.
    •    To achieve tasks within the set time in order to meet departmental targets.
    •    When required, to support with quality investigations and reviews to determine true root cause of defects, using appropriate tools and methodologies. 
    •    Works under minimal Supervision.
    •    Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of basic to moderate complexity issues.
    •    Supports the development of solutions to problems of a recurring nature.
    •    Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the business from time to time.

Education    

•    Good general education required with numeracy and perception essential with an Engineering bias


Experience            

•    Working as part of a team
•    Working in a Production environment with deadlines
•    Understanding of Machine Tools and CNC Machines


Essential Knowledge and Skills    

•    Ability to work safely, without creating risk to self or team. Ability to identify safety hazards and act/report as necessary
•    Good hand-to-eye co-ordination
•    Ability to read and follow engineering assembly drawings, work instructions and quality standards.
•    Experience of working within an ISO9001 Quality Management System environment.
•    Good numeracy and literacy skills, basic IT skills.
•    A flexible approach and a willingness to learn new skills.
•    Requires considerable judgement and initiative to accomplish tasks

•    Ability to use measuring equipment such as CMM, bore/blade micrometer etc


Desirable Knowledge and Skills    

•    Experience of working in a Engineering/Production/Machine Shop environment
