Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Field Application Engineering Teams work intimately with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. They identify new applications, requirement modifications and enhancements to meet customer specifications and conduct on-site installation and service of product and are responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential application of company products to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities; determining solutions; creating demand; preparing detailed product specifications and technical marketing support; ensuring high quality and timely project execution and conducting follow-up technical support. They also approve operational quality of systems and equipment.

Job Purpose :

Engages in the assembly of TE subsea connectors, umbilical/cable terminations and assemblies – optical and electrical assemblies/umbilical test and troubleshoot in the field – elaboration of technical reports and quality documentation – follow EHS/QC guidance’s and policies

Essential Duties :

-    Works under minimal supervision, referring only very complex issues to higher levels.
-    Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
-    May assist in training and assigning/checking work and providing training to lower-level employees to meet goals but is not a supervisor.
-    Work with the Field Service & Support Department Manager and Foreman to carry out all required tasks.
-    Work in accordance with company and departmental policies and procedures.
-    Work from Engineering drawings and procedures to assemble and test connectors and various interfacing assemblies.
-    May adapt procedures, techniques, and/or equipment to meet job requirements.
-    Flexible to responding to customer callouts and field dispatches withing 72h/48h/24h
-    Flexible travel schedule, with up to 100% travel
o    Travel nationally or internationally to perform field work
o    Perform work at customers site onshore and offshore
o    Work a flexible work schedule (Day shift / Night Shift)
o    Willing to work on 12h/12h work schedule
o    Must be able and willing to work frequent overtime, respecting the limit of 14h due to fatigue and HSE policies
o    Drive rental car or company car
-    Terminate electrical and optical contacts and connectors using various cable types.
-    Able to solder proficiently.
-    Able to perform optical fusion splices proficiently.
-    Able to mold using industry chemicals standard materials.
-    Use test equipment for both electrical and optical systems.
-    Ensure all work equipment is in proper working condition and cleanliness requirements are always maintained, establish, and maintain clean working environment – 5S.
-    Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed, maintain daily logbook of activities 
completed, maintain time and testing records, maintain accurate records of equipment and procedures used for each process, record test results on standardized forms and generate test reports describing procedures used.
-    Confer with technical staff to conduct analyses, interpret test results, or develop non-standard tests.
-    Maintain set schedules.

Background:
-    High school diploma or GED
-    Valid drive licenses to operate rental or company owner vehicle
-    Eligible for other countries VISA (outside UK)
-    Eligible for port entry as required 
-    Ability to understand and follow MPS, Work Instructions, Schematics and Drawings
-    Must have entry level knowledge of theory of fiber optics 
-    Understand and demonstrate the use of testing equipment such as an OTDR
-    Proficiency in Optical Equipment use such as Fusion Slicer, Cleaver and Fiber Strippers
-    Keep records of tool boxes, expire dates of equipment/chemical
-    Handle equipment calibration/repair
-    Regular communication with our Global Field Service Coordinator/Manager in USA
-    Excellent time management skills
-    Mechanical and electrical skills
-    Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
-    Good communication and Customer Facing skills
-    Physically fit and able to work with heavy equipment
-    Proficient knowledge on MS Office and use of internet

Working Conditions :
-    <25% of time in production/floor.
-    >75% Travel time.
-    Hazardous environment.
-    Onshore and offshore locations (yard/factories/rig/vessel).
