Job Overview
We are building a world-class Global Trade Services (GTS) organization with Operational Service Centers dedicated to delivering critical trade services across TE’s global footprint.
This position, Import/Export Analyst III, is part of the Corporate and Customs Shared Services Center (CCS), which supports centralized core activities for managing customs and import-related projects and shared services across all TE locations.
The role plays a pivotal part in driving Customs compliance, managing DTA and FTWZ operations, and supporting TE and its affiliates through consistent process execution, systems enablement, and best-in-class service delivery
Job Responsibilities:
Success in the role requires strong analytical and creative critical thinking skills, strategic analysis and planning capabilities involving complex situations, advanced oral and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate interdisciplinary teams (internal and external) to drive issues and projects to conclusion.
- Proficient in handling import clearance processes under both Home Consumption and Bonding Bill of Entry (BE), including Re-import procedures, in compliance with AEO T2 guidelines.
- Experienced in leveraging AEO T2 benefits to ensure smooth and expedited customs procedures.
- Well-versed with application and use of:
- Customs General Notifications relevant to AEO operations.
- End-Use Customs Notifications for availing duty exemptions/concessions.
- Deferred Duty Payment Scheme, allowing post-clearance duty payments as per AEO T2 privileges.
- Electronic Cash Ledger (ECL) for efficient management and tracking of customs duty payments.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements, documentation standards, and coordination with Customs and stakeholders for timely clearances.
- Ability to guide internal teams and logistics partners on AEO T2 operational benefits and compliance obligations.
- Skilled in handling exports, re-exports under Section 74, and claiming customs duty refunds.
- Management and oversight of Customs brokers, agents, and service providers, ensuring adherence to service agreements and compliance standards.
- Supervision of cross-border operations in India, including site-level activities and compliance with duty optimization programs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable customs regulations, trade laws, and international trade agreements.
- Develop, implement, and manage standard operating procedures (SOPs) for customs broker/service providers to expedite cross-border transactions and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to resolve shipment-specific issues and escalate when necessary.
- Prepare and review all import-export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping documents, and customs declarations.
- Classify goods accurately using appropriate HS codes and determine applicable customs duties and taxes.
- Monitor and track shipments, provide regular stakeholder updates, and resolve delays/issues proactively.
- Analyze export/import costs, pricing, and profitability; recommend strategies for trade margin optimization and cost reduction.
- Ensure timely communication and dispatch of shipment documents to all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain regular follow-up with Customs/Consultants to avail of all eligible export incentives and benefits.
- Well-versed in FTWZ (Free Trade Warehousing Zone) operations and compliance activities.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree required (international relations, supply chain, law, or related field preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in international trade, focusing primarily on India trade compliance and management of Customs imports programs.
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience in communications, industrial, or transportation industries
- Firsthand experience in managing imports under EPCG (Export Promotion Capital Goods) scheme.
- EOU, MOOWR, FTWZ (SEZ) activities.
- Experience in MS Applications and Smartsheet, and/or knowledge of Export Control compliance processes is a plus.
- Direct experience of working with private bonded warehouses and distribution of imported goods in the country.
- Knowledge on customs process, customs duties, duty exemptions / refunds and notification application and DGFT procedures.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with strong English communication (both oral & written)
- Should have thorough knowledge of domestic and overseas supply chain management function (General Purchasing and Logistics exposure)
- Experience with direct supervision of personnel and developing, creating, and managing a compliance team.
- Knowledge and expertise in customs valuation (transfer pricing, assists, and reconciliation)
- Functional knowledge of customs and imports topics in multiple jurisdictions
