Job Overview


Job Title: Senior SAP Learning Technologist

The primary focus of the Senior SAP Learning Technologist is to optimise learning technology to sustain the SAP systems implementation.


The Senior SAP Learning Technologist role will support the Creganna Medical, Galway site which is part of TE Connectivity. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to establish the role and make a significant contribution to the capability of the business and the development of employees within the business. The focus for Creganna Medical is to attract, develop and retain talent through the provision of challenging work, training opportunities and career advancement. Working in a hands-on manner, the SAP Learning Technologist will actively identify, develop, co-ordinate, socialise, deliver and evaluate training content and solutions that meet both current and future business and employee needs.

TE's Talent Management team is responsible for building the capability of the organization to be high performing and able to adapt, including change management, culture transformation and overall employee performance. They are responsible for TE's training and development strategy, ensuring skills and capabilities of employees meet the organization's current and future needs. They develop, implement and evaluate training activities to meet TE's competitive position requirements, and are responsible for mentoring and training programs to establish a diverse and inclusive culture.


Job Responsibilities


  • Manage Training materials – change control process, catalogue, update simulations, matrix etc.
  • Support smooth HR onboarding by presenting at Induction, be the face of SAP on-site, communicate new process with Hiring Managers re SAP license granting and training.
  • Schedule/ Deliver training for new hires / those returning from long term absence (incl. manage SAP Training Room).
  • Develop Intranet SAP Page.
  • Work closely with internal customers and other stakeholders to understand business processes, gather and document project requirements.
  • Update Training Matrix / Training Curriculum. Advise People Managers on correct courses per SAP access.
  • Maintain Collaborate learning management system (new hires need to be registered etc.)
  • Manage Assima 3-yr contract (4 x licenses) – develop relationships, drive system maintenance and updates.
  • Have a Global mindset to Training collateral and be prepared to advise other sites on SAP implementation.
  • SAP Continuous improvement – Identify areas for process improvement.
  • Provide end User Support, troubleshoot training issues and handle ad-hoc queries requested from business users.  
  • Manage the completion of an annual site Training Needs Analysis (TNA) from a systems and technology implementation and sustaining perspective and analyse the results to understand the needs of the business and employees.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the training schedule as per the agreed strategy.  
  • Source external providers if required and manage the tendering process. 
  • Establish an up-to-date database of leading and credible training authorities/providers, and what they have to offer.
  • Evaluate training delivery outcomes to enable continuous development and improvements of training solutions. 
  • Support the continuous improvement of training programs by keeping up to date with best practices.
  • Design plant-wide KPI metrics for training (appropriate for different levels) and have reporting systems to support these metrics including but not limited to: time spent on training, people who attended, budgetary spend, feedback on training etc.
  • Provide updates on training performance and budget reports as requested.
  • Support other learning & development activities.


What your background should look like:




  • Level 8 degree in a related discipline. 
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in the identification, development and implementation of training initiatives, preferably within the Medical Device Sector. 
  • Train the Trainer accreditation. 
  • Proven experience with learning technology and system implementations.
  • Proven experience in working in a dynamic and challenging environment.


Key Requirements 


  • SAP implementation experience a distinct advantage, otherwise strong Tier 1 ERP experience.
  • Well established networking and customer service skills. 
  • Self-motivated, independent and ability work on own initiative.
  • Excellent research, analytical skills and reporting skills with experience in identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas, and implementing solutions.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Advanced MS Office skills and strong systems experience.
  • Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to deliver training confidently across the organisation. 
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships across the business.
  • ATS simulation editing and Collaborate experience is an advantage.
