The Process Development Engineer will be responsible for procurement, validation, training and the development of new manufacturing technologies in our Device Development product design and manufacturing business. PD engineer will be integral part of the team for the development of new manufacturing technologies in our device development product design and manufacturing business. During the development phase of the projects, he/she will work with the project development teams and during the product commercialisation with the product transfer team.

Responsibilities

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams work to conceive original ideas for new products and introduce them into practice. 

  • Conducting technical reviews, concept development, prototype fabrication, test development and completion of feasibility studies. 
  • Provide key support for product qualification activities including assisting in the qualification of suppliers for new products. 
  • Involved in product transfer and manufacturing ramp up activities. 
  • Provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to: 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications and process and test related documentation. 
  • Contribute innovatively to design modifications in order to facilitate manufacturing operational efficiencies or to improve quality of the product. 
  • Typical fields of expertise include: materials science, polymer processing, mechanics and systems, mechatronics, packaging, testing and measurement, the manufacturing of plastic or metallic components, and integration of these components into systems.

What your background should look like:

Qualifications

  •  Level 8 engineering degree or equivalent. 
  • 3+ year’s industry experience in a medical product development environment. 

 

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrate product design and development experience, including experience of design review and quality procedures. 
  • Must be a strong communicator, both written and oral.
  • Excellent technical skills and a proven track record in the implementation of mechanical solutions.
  • Understanding of polymer materials and selection in medical device design would be an advantage. A Good knowledge of catheter fabrication techniques is preferred.  
  • Experience of compiling FMEA’s and conducting verifications and validations for medical devices products and processes.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as DOE and SPC, and ideally experience using Minitab are an advantage
  • Experience of development of test methods and associated product testing.
  • Periodic requirements for travel are anticipated.
