The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations and reporting activities. This includes payroll processing, system administration, payroll and taxation calculations and adjustments, tax filings, payment disbursements, and record retention. This role reports directly to the Regional Payroll Manager.

What you will do

  • Supervise payroll operations to ensure the timely and accurate processing of weekly and monthly payrolls, including Board of Directors (BOD), quarterly-paid employees, and payrolls for small-headcount countries.
  • Manage payroll activities for Ireland and eight small-headcount countries, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct payroll audits and ensure payroll controls and processes are operating effectively.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll activities, including reporting and reconciliations.Liaise with pension funds, social security agencies, insurance providers, tax authorities, and auditors to ensure compliance and support statutory requirements.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and day-to-day support to the payroll team, acting as the primary escalation point for payroll-related matters.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and ensure timely resolution of employee and manager inquiries through Zendesk.
  • Achieve STAR Level 2 accreditation by demonstrating effective collaboration, issue management, and continuous process improvement.
  • Act as the primary payroll contact for Ireland and collaborate with development teams to support payroll system rollouts and enhancements.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Accounting, Global Mobility, and other stakeholders on payroll-related initiatives and operational activities.
  • Ensure payroll-related data, including employee information changes, taxes, stock-based compensation, and global mobility charges, is accurately processed within established deadlines.
  • Coordinate with Accounting to ensure payroll data is complete, accurate, and appropriately reconciled.
  • Ensure registrations and deregistrations for statutory and company benefits are completed accurately and reflected in payroll records.
  • Serve as the primary contact for payroll service providers and provide final approval of payroll processing and related benefit and insurance invoices.
  • Support the review, development, and maintenance of payroll policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, including future SOX requirements.
  • Coordinate payroll-related onboarding and offboarding activities, including support for international assignees.Lead statutory and business reporting activities, including Gender Pay Gap reporting, Pay Transparency reporting, employee headcount reporting, and other internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen compliance controls.

Your ideal background

  • 4–6 years of payroll supervisory experience with a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll operations, including payroll preparation, reconciliation, internal controls, and payroll taxation.
  • Practical experience managing payroll tax requirements at the local level.
  • Experience processing payrolls for populations of 500+ employees.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage detailed work accurately while maintaining composure and effectiveness under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in accounting and finance principles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Oracle, ADP, and other payroll-related systems.
  • Experience working with multiple payroll platforms and technologies.
  • Understanding of expatriate payrolls, international assignments, and related processes.
  • Experience leading payroll implementations, system enhancements, and cross-functional projects.
