We are currently seeking a highly motivated Staff Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Development Team. TE Connectivity's Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding, or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes. 

 

What you will be doing... 

 

  • Electronics assembly and industrialization for solid state relays with aerospace and defense 
  • Understanding of test requirements for electronics and solid-state relays 
  • Familiarity with programming embedded microcontrollers, flashing software onto electronics 
  • Background with configuration management of software 
  • Able to provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback for component and assembly designs 
  • Carry out process improvements and problem solving through root cause analysis 
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams; collaborating with quality, product engineering, purchasing, planning, suppliers, and vendors 
  • Drive process optimization with data driven decisions 
  • Support the Sustaining Manufacturing teams in the identification and execution of savings projects for new and existing product lines 
  • Initiate/manage capital equipment projects; specifying and implementing new manufacturing equipment including RFQ, FAT, SAT, Installation, and Training 
  • Resolve tool and design problems as related to the assembly of components 
  • Apply knowledge to the design, build, and procurement of assembly tooling to meet TE quality and production standards 
  • New process development, including process documentation and qualification 

What your background should look like:

  • Work in a hands-on environment being directly responsible for engineering sample builds, design verification samples, and qualification product 
  • Collaborate with Product Development Engineering to ensure designs meet cost objectives and are driven by design for manufacturability principles 
  • Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to several assigned projects while ensuring key deliverables are met per project schedules 
  • Support Project Management Office in project quoting and manufacturing location selection to improve margin, OI, and ROI 
  • Participating and leading FMEA reviews 
  • Analyze process/equipment capability and performing DOEs to establish optimal processes and equipment 
  • Continually research new technologies and processes to drive quality improvements and cost savings 
  • Continually developing through internal and external learning platforms 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering Degree with 8+ years of experience is preferred 
  • Experience with machine and equipment design, development, and manufacturing deployment 
  • High level of competency with 3-D modeling software, Creo preferred but not required 
  • Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. 
  • Knowledge in statistical software packages such Minitab preferred but not required 
  • Sound project management skills 
  • Working knowledge of six sigma and lean manufacturing tools 
  • Understanding of material and conversion saving calculations 
  • Capability to work in a fasted paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities 
  • Knowledge in mil-aero products is desirable but not required 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • A self-starter that requires minimal supervision 
  • GB or BB in Lean Design for Six Sigma or DMAIC preferred

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $124,000 – 175,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
