Job Overview

The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily activities in assigned area while supporting production, troubleshooting, machine set-ups, training, quality, safety and continuous improvement activities. This position spends most of the time on the production floor working alongside team members. There are no direct supervisory responsibilities (performance management or compensation).

Job Requirements

• • Direct daily activities within assigned cell areas, review and assign daily Production Order List Report, monitor production schedules, maintain production flow, improve productivity. Schedule continuous production orders and get components staged for multiple work orders for the day
  • Coordinate all raw materials, tooling, and gages required for orders are in the cell  by following 5S and Pull system/lean methodologies.  
  • Actively participate in production activities by operating machinery, assisting with machine set-ups and changeovers. Serve as technical resource and lead operator.
  • Promote safety policies such as: LOTO, PPE, machine guarding and safe work practices. Maintain strong 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure products consistently meet customer requirements and all applicable engineering drawings, specifications, routings, and BOMs. Manage production activities within the assigned area to maintain compliance with route and TAKT times, while ensuring that any changes to BOMs or routings receive Engineering approval before implementation.
  • Maintain scrap reporting and other tools to work toward improving product quality, internal and external.
  • Support and lead Lean initiatives including 5S, SQDC, Kaizen, Gemba walks, Standard Work, TAKT time Management and waste reduction activities.
  • Train employees through hands-on instruction. Support onboarding and cross-training activities.

What your background should look like

• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in wire and cable manufacturing, drawing, bunching, rewinding, extrusion, machining or similar manufacturing environments required.
• Prior experience as lead operator, trainer, set-up technician, cell lead or similar role preferred.
• Previous lead operator or team lead experience  is beneficial.
• Ability to read work instructions, BOMs, routings, and engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with quality standards and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, rulers, etc)
• Ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to Read, Write and Speak English.

Physical Requirements:

• Continuous standing, moving and reaching with arms and hand
• Frequently walks, bends, lifts and carries items.
• Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work performed in a shop environment.
• Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, and odors.
