About the Role

The Senior Manager - Solar works within the Energy business unit of TE's Industrial Solutions segment, and is responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for utility-scale solar. This leader manages a team of experienced territory sales managers and works across project owners, independent power producers (IPPs), developers, engineering firms, EPCs, procurement organizations, channel partners, and other key stakeholders.

The role combines strategic account development, technical solution selling, project-pipeline leadership, and cross-functional execution. The successful candidate will position TE Energy as a preferred strategic supplier, increase customer share, and translate customer and market insight into scalable growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership and Market Growth

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of senior-level territory sales managers, establishing clear priorities, accountabilities, and performance expectations.
  • Develop and execute a market-penetration strategy for utility-scale solar and adjacent clean-energy applications.
  • Identify, qualify, and advance strategic projects and accounts to expand TE Energy’s project pipeline, market share, and revenue.
  • Independently assess sales, marketing, partnership, and channel strategies, and recommend actions that accelerate profitable growth.
  • Maintain disciplined forecasts, opportunity reviews, and financial reporting for regional performance, strategic initiatives, and business-planning results.

Strategic Accounts and Customer Relationships

  • Build deep, executive-level relationships with utility-scale project owners, IPPs, developers, EPCs, engineers of record, procurement leaders, and other key decision-makers.
  • Apply professional selling methodologies to understand customer priorities, shape opportunities, and position TE Energy as a preferred supplier and long-term strategic partner.
  • Navigate complex procurement channels and execute targeted campaigns to secure TE’s position on approved vendor lists (AVLs) and preferred-vendor programs for major project portfolios.
  • Improve account penetration and customer satisfaction by coordinating technical, commercial, operational, and service resources around the customer’s needs.
  • Monitor customer-related KPIs and supplier-performance standards; use data and results to communicate TE’s value and improve account execution.

Technical and Project Development

  • Apply a strong functional understanding of electrical balance of system (EBOS) architecture, power distribution, connectivity, and energy storage technologies.
  • Use knowledge of the utility-scale solar project lifecycle, including development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations, to engage customers at the right stages.
  • Partner with customers to convert early PV system concepts into optimized EPC and owner designs that improve constructability, reliability, standardization, and TE product content.
  • Prepare or review solar-plant and renewable-project designs to develop customized connectivity solutions for large-scale installations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management teams to align TE solutions with engineer-of-record design workflows, project specifications, and application requirements.
  • Track technology developments, codes, standards, and emerging customer requirements; translate market insight into ideas for new or modified products and solutions.

What your background should look like

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years’ relevant experience, including 5+ years’ experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or a closely related electrical-infrastructure market.
  • Experience developing business with project owners, IPPs, developers, EPCs, engineering firms, procurement organizations, or channel partners.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design, procurement, and construction practices, with experience supporting multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong understanding of products, technologies, and applications used in commercial or utility-scale solar installations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build executive relationships, to influence complex buying organizations, and to advance opportunities through long sales cycles.
  • Strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate autonomously, act with urgency, and deliver results in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites, regional offices, project locations, and industry events.

Preferred

  • MBA, advanced technical degree, or relevant professional certification.
  • Technical background in electrical engineering, power systems, renewable-energy systems, or related equipment.
  • People-leadership experience managing experienced sales professionals across multiple territories.
  • Knowledge of EBOS solutions, medium- and low-voltage power distribution, connectivity, grounding, cable accessories, or energy-storage applications.

Leadership Profile

  • Customer-focused: Listens carefully, clarifies needs, and converts customer insight into practical solutions.
  • Strategic and commercial: Connects market trends, customer priorities, project economics, and competitive dynamics to clear actions.
  • Technically credible: Communicates effectively with engineering, procurement, construction, and executive stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial: Challenges the status quo, develops new approaches, and takes ownership from concept through execution.
  • Performance-driven: Establishes measurable priorities, uses data to manage progress, and consistently follows through.
