Position Overview

The Quality Manager for the Fuquay-Varina NC site, which is part of TE’s Energy and Utilities BU,  is responsible for all aspects of the site’s total quality function and Customer, Supplier and the internal quality processes while leading continuous improvement activities following TEOA, Lean Six Sigma and Quality Management principles. Quality Manager will develop, monitor and advise on the performance of the quality management system in manufacturing and other departments. As a member of the Site Leadership Team, the Quality Manager will lead the organizations efforts and passion for pursuing zero defects and promoting the best practices to leading the Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality teams towards world class manufacturing.

The Quality Manager ensures the implementation, proper execution and maintenance of PFMEA, quality control plans and procedures, as well as ensuring that the activities of continuous improvement are implemented and monitored through key performance indicators such as PPM, COPQ and Scrap. Ensure the compliance of regulations, the fulfillment of customer specific requirements applicable to Engineering and Operations, and that new products and processes are properly implemented prior to the release to production. Will use leadership experience to coach and train associates on the methodologies, philosophy and tools of the TEOA so that they are understood, implemented, and applied by Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering and Customer Service functions.


Department Overview

TE Connectivity's Quality Assurance Teams are responsible for all or part of an organization's Quality Management System, including conformance and continuous improvement initiatives. They work on systemic evaluation of products, services, facilities, manufacturing or business processes, to ensure that standards of quality are being met. Develop and implement quality plans, programs and procedures using quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses. They reviews, analyze and report on quality discrepancies, investigate problems and executes quality audits, and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. The team works closely with manufacturing, engineering, customers, or suppliers and subcontractors to ensure requirements are met.

What you will be doing

•    Responsible for the development, implementation, management and maintenance of the quality system and regulatory compliance
•    Successful implementation of company-wide operational procedures to support quality system requirements and world class execution.
•    Drive a culture of continuous improvement and quality, establishing objectives for world class customer satisfaction using tools such as lean manufacturing, six sigma, TEOA and ECE are used to ensure proper validation and approval of new products manufacturing lines and processes are used to achieve goals.
•    Drive a culture of quality with standards throughout organization.
•    Grow the supplier quality system for domestic and international vendors.
•    Conduct quality systems audits at the site, as well as at supplier sites.
•    Improve quality performance while providing coaching and guidance in the implementation of processes and tools by working with local and regional Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Customer Service, and Sales.
•    Reduce Internal and External DPPM and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
•    Bring the Voice of the Customer (VOC) to the operations and functional teams while providing extraordinary service levels to exceed customer expectations.
•    Lead, coordinate, and participate in Six Sigma and/or Lean activities to drive operational and transactional improvements.
•    Analyzes current processes, develops tactics, and institutes data-driven process improvements which will link Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Customer Service objectives and goals worldwide.
•    Assist in developing and managing supplier certification process.
•    Manage site Quality resources to achieve objectives, identifies opportunities to reduce waste and increase efficiency across the business
•    Provide expertise to ensure quality processes are recognized, understood and maintained across the company.
•    Disseminate quality concepts throughout the organization, contributing to the development of a culture committed Quality, Extraordinary Customer Experience (ECE) and organization objectives.


What your background should look like

•    BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering required.
•    3+ years of proven experience implementing and/or improving quality systems.
•    2+ years of supplier quality experience, international experience a plus.
•    Minimum 1 year of quality management and 3 years of quality engineering experience in an ISO 9001, AS9100 or ISO/TS 16949 certified environment, NQA-1 or Nuclear experience a plus.
•    Experience working in a Manufacturing operation is required. Injection Molding, Thermoforming, Compounding and/or Extrusion is a plus.
•    Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Approval experience.
•    Lean and/or Six Sigma experience required. Green or Black Belt certification a plus.
•    Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success simultaneously directing multiple projects across multiple departments with ability to lead and drive change.
•    Leadership, presentation, project management, coaching, influencing, and verbal/written communication skills required.
•    Self-motivated individual able to multi-task effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.
•    Computer skills including spreadsheet applications, Microsoft Access, and/or Minitab.
