Job Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and improvements on all plant equipment. This includes mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving equipment issues, working independently, and being a key part of a high‑performing maintenance team in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair plant equipment, including:
    • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
    • Safety devices and related machinery
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures independently and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reduce equipment downtime by quickly identifying issues and implementing repairs.
  • Use PLC information (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Direct Logic) to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Perform industrial electrical wiring (low voltage up to 480V, 3‑phase).

Preventive Maintenance & Improvements

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and properly document all activities.
  • Calibrate and adjust equipment to ensure consistent quality.
  • Identify improvements that reduce costs, improve productivity, or enhance equipment performance.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Use company software to track PMs and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Follow all safety rules, policies, regulations, and company standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, equipment, and tools.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Communicate openly with supervisors on matters that impact production and equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with management, co‑workers, internal customers, and vendors.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical manuals, and instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and logical troubleshooting approach.
  • Able to operate facility equipment (compressors, boilers, fire systems, etc.).
  • Knowledge of basic math needed for maintenance tasks.
  • Proficient using computers, spreadsheets, reporting tools, and documentation systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and relevant work experience.
  • Journeyman electrician license is a plus, but not required.

 

Physical Requirements

• Remain in a stationary position while troubleshooting and repairing equipment. 

• Regularly move about to access different parts of the plant and when transporting parts, equipment and sections of conveyor weighing up to 40 pounds. 

• Move and position products when installing and repairing motors, gearboxes, and conveyors weighing up to 40 pounds. 

• Position products on pallets/carts and maneuver gearboxes and motors requiring up to 85 pounds of force. 

• Position oneself to access lower levels of equipment when repairing, trouble shooting, or installing parts. 

• Reach forward and overhead when accessing various areas of equipment. 

• Ascend/descend stairs/ladders to access and work atop conveyors, using scissor and boom lifts, and when trouble shooting and hanging conveyors. 

• Operate, position, and use a wide variety of hand tools and equipment, as well as a computer keyboard and mouse. 

• Perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels and can exchange detailed information. 

• Move about the manufacturing facility to observe and effectively communicate with team members and perform job duties. 

• Visually observe and interact with associates and equipment in the plant setting. 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to:
  • High, confined, or elevated locations
  • Loud noise, moving parts, and extreme heat
  • Outdoor weather conditions
  • Potential exposure to chemicals
Must always work safely and follow established protocols.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $58,400 – $87,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
